Kawasaki Z900

Since 2017, the Kawasaki Z900 has become a standard motorbike in the Kawasaki Z series. It succeeded the Z800.

The literbike-plus class of nakeds has seen a surge in power and riding technology, but their middleweight counterparts have not. With the new Z900, Kawasaki intends to rectify that and better compete with Yamaha’s FZ-09/XSR900 and Triumph’s always-entertaining Street Triple.

The Z900 aims to weaponize the middleweight class with a combination of power and handling, and it succeeds the departing Z800 while falling short of Team Green’s Z1000.

The engine is a 948 cc inline four from the Z1000. In this application, it produces 126 horsepower, which is 12 more than the Z800 it replaces.

The greatest difference between this model and the previous one is the use of a steel trellis frame, which results in the Z900 weighing 443 lbs.

Suspension consists of a 41mm upside-down fork with adjustable rebound and preload, as well as a shock with the same degrees of adjustment.

The brakes are simple, with 300mm front discs held on by Nissin four-piston callipers and ABS.

How will all of this assist versus the FZ-09, Street Triple, and Suzuki’s new GSX-S750? We can’t wait to find out.
