About the KTM 125 EXC EU / 125 EXC Six Days EU / 200 EXC EU / 200 EXC AUS / 200 XC-W USA

KTM had built its small-bore enduro identity around lightweight two-strokes long before 2014, and the 125 EXC remained the purest expression of that formula. KTM's 2014 off-road media material positioned the 125 as the E1-class benchmark for riders who valued minimum weight, agility and low running costs. Its 124.8 cm³ reed-valve engine, six-speed gearbox and kick-start simplicity kept the motorcycle focused on traditional competition enduro rather than trail-bike convenience, while the road-homologated EXC equipment broadened its use beyond closed-course racing.

The 200 EXC filled a deliberately unusual niche between the 125 and 250 classes. Instead of simply scaling up the chassis, KTM used a 193 cm³ two-stroke to preserve much of the 125's nimble feel while adding noticeably stronger low- and mid-range torque. For 2014 KTM's own launch material highlighted a stronger electric starter, larger battery, revised cylinder head and updated carburetor settings, all aimed at improving starting reliability and rideability. The result was a machine intended for riders who wanted more tractability than a 125 without the size and power delivery of a 250.

The North American 200 XC-W applied the same basic 193 cm³ engine concept to KTM's wide-ratio off-road format. Cycle World's 2014 first ride called the 200 XC-W the standout of KTM's new XC-W lineup, reflecting how effectively the small engine, electric start and light chassis suited technical trail and cross-country riding. The factory manual shows the market-specific differences clearly: the 200 XC-W uses 14:48 final gearing and a 10-litre tank, while the 200 EXC versions use 14:45 gearing and differ in fuel capacity by market.

Chassis specification also helps define this small-bore two-stroke enduro platform. Standard EXC and XC-W models use the WP 4860 MXMA PA fork with 300 mm travel and a WP 5018 PDS DCC rear shock with 335 mm travel, preserving KTM's linkage-free PDS enduro layout. The 125 EXC Six Days receives the WP 4860 4CS fork with 292 mm travel, giving the special edition its own suspension service requirements in addition to its competition-oriented equipment. All covered models use 260 mm front and 220 mm rear discs, a chromoly-steel central-tube frame and 21/18-inch enduro wheel proportions.

A clear generational break arrived for model year 2017. In its official 2017 enduro launch, KTM described an all-new range with new engines and chassis and specifically stated that the 125 XC-W and 150 XC-W replaced the 125 and 200 EXC in the revised lineup. That confirms why a 125 XC-W should not be assigned to this 2014 manual. This download is specifically the 2014 factory Repair Manual covering 125 EXC EU, 125 EXC Six Days EU, 200 EXC EU, 200 EXC AUS and 200 XC-W USA. Related factory publications are grouped in the KTM 125 EXC manual catalog.
