Buell P3 Blast

The Buell Blast is a motorbike produced by the Buell Motorcycle Company between 2000 and 2009.

The Blast was designed as an entry-level motorbike to introduce beginners to motorcycles in general and Harley-Davidson in particular. As a result, the design objectives were cheap cost as well as ease of operation and maintenance. These objectives can be met by employing an automatically tensioned belt final drive, self-adjusting hydraulic valve lifters, and a carburetor with an automated choke. The engine design was inspired by Harley-Evolution Davidson’s Sportster engine, however the rear cylinder was removed. Surlyn, a polymer used to produce the outer of golf balls, was utilized to make the Blast’s plastic bodywork components, which protect the surfaces when the Blast is dropped.

The Blast was utilized in the Harley-Davidson Rider’s Edge New Rider program, which is identical to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Basic “RiderCourse.”

Prior to stopping all motorcycle manufacture in July 2009, Buell aired an ad campaign indicating that the Buell Blast will no longer be available in their lineup. The advertisement showed a Buell Blast being crushed in an automotive crusher. A limited quantity of smashed Blast cubes were available for purchase in 2010 upon request. Erik Buell autographed and numbered each one. They were available in Battle Blue, Midnight Black, and Sunfire Yellow.
