Aprilia ETV 1200 Caponord

The Aprilia ETV 1200 Caponord is a motorcycle street enduro motorcycle Italian Aprilia from 2001 to 2017.

Since 2004 , the bike is marketed with a standard ABS , which can be deactivated using a button on the right side of the dashboard. It is the result of the collaboration between Brembo and Bosch and characterized by double sensors, which simultaneously read the rotation of both wheels: in the case of locking of one of the wheels due to loss of grip, the ABS pump / control unit (located in front of the shock absorber and with split and independent circuits) can intervene by modulating the pressure in a differentiated manner on the two wheels. The brake department consists of two 300 mm discs at the front (semi-floating in the ABS version of the bike only) and a single 280 mm disc at the rear (also semi-floating in the ABS version of the bike). In the latter case, the braking system features metal braided hoses, while in the 1st series the hoses are more traditional (but in any case advertised by the manufacturer as being of superior quality). The ABS system can in any case be deactivated when driving on rough terrain such as gravel, sand and mud, where the control of the motorcycle and its stopping would be compromised by the intervention of the anti-lock system.

In addition, the second generation is Euro II.

In 2013, the 1200 version of the Caponord was launched. It is equipped with a 125 hp 90 ° V-twin engine and the Aprilia Dynamic Damping electronic system, which allows the vehicle to dynamically adjust the suspension based on the load and the type of terrain and pace. Ride-By-Wire was also installed, which allows you to set the engine in the Touring, Sport and Rain options according to the rider’s needs. The power supply consists of two throttle bodies and two double multiholes for injectors combined with a Twin Spark ignition with Stick-coil type pipettes. The motion is transmitted from the engine to the wheel through the final chain transmission, while the electronic part is powered by a generator with a power of 690 Watts. The frame is made of steel tubes. The braking system adopts ABS and Brembo brakes with double 320 mm floating discs in the front section with bites from two monobloc 4-piston calipers and radial attachment, while in the rear there are a 240 mm disc and a single-piston floating caliper.

The controls are of the classic type, easily reachable without taking your hands off the knobs which are protected by full-band handguards as standard.

The dashboard, with a blue background with three different degrees of brightness, is divided into three zones, on the left the speedometer , the tachometer total and partial odometer, in the center the with the green neutral light clearly visible while on the right the display multifunction the temperature of the coolant, the atmospheric temperature, the time and the gasoline still available in the form of wedges. The display also has a diagnostic function which indicates the presence of a malfunction by means of various numerical codes. At the apex of the dashboard are the oil pressure, sidestand open, and engine diagnostics lights. When the key is turned, a general check is carried out which is highlighted by the illumination of all the warning lights.

The high weight of the motorcycle (238 kg) can create embarrassment when maneuvering from a standstill and up to 10–15 km / h after which it has a much lesser effect. The rider’s feet rest on the large footrests covered with non-slip rubber and the knees sit in the large handles of the tank with a capacity of 25 liters of petrol , the saddle is wide and hollow. The passenger is accommodated on a seat with a seat at a different height from that of the rider and has large grab handles available.

The clutch is equipped with a hydraulic system and the possibility of adjusting the distance of the lever according to your needs (that of the brake is also adjustable). The clutch is also equipped with an anti-hopping device. The engine is mainly intended for rotation speeds above 3,000 rpm, which is noticeable in city use.

The autonomy can reach and exceed 350 kilometers.

In addition to the roominess for rider and passenger, the Caponord offers a loading possibility that can reach up to 130 liters thanks to the central trunk (which can accommodate 2 full-face helmets) and the two side cases rigid drop-shaped Possibility that can be greatly increased by using a classic tank bag that can be mounted with straps.

Night lighting is ensured by the double parabolic headlight, each equipped with a H4 halogen lamp.
