Suzuki GSX1400
Suzuki produced the GSX1400 muscle bike between 2001 and 2008. The GSX1400 was designed to be a quicker and more torque-laden version of Suzuki’s comparable Bandit 1200, with more modern technologies, but it was nevertheless referred to be a “disco-era” motorcycle.
Initially, the bike was solely built for Japan and Europe, until being introduced to the Australian market in 2001; nevertheless, there was a campaign to make the GSX1400 available in the United States and Canada.
The GSX1400 has a redline of 9,000 rpm, but there’s little use in pushing it over that because the bike has excellent low and mid-range performance. The fuel injection throttle bodies are likewise rather tiny bore, which limits the engine’s breathing (and hence power) at high rpm; nevertheless, this improves low-end torque and responsiveness. To overcome these breathing restrictions and give large gains in power and torque, conversions like as turbocharging and supercharging can be done.
Later models included a wheel color change from white to black, a switch from a 4 into 2 exhaust system to a 4 into 1 system, and Yoshimura branded exhaust silencers – but this was only available as a dealer install option.
The penultimate model, which was nearly identical but for color schemes, was sold in 2008.
