Yamaha V-Star 1100

Yamaha Motor Corporation manufactures the Yamaha XVS 1100 DragStar, also known as the V-Star 1100 in North America. It is available in two models: the XVS1100 Custom and the XVS1100A Classic, with the former being more contemporary and the latter being more classic, with rounder edges and weighing 13 kg (29 lb) more. The Custom has a significantly lower seat height.

The 1100, along with its 650 sister, has a worldwide fanbase. A variety of aftermarket components are available to modify the model. The revisions to the model have been evolutionary, with only modest updates.

The DragStar debuted in Europe in 1997 as the XVS650 (400 version available in Japan since 1996), and expanded to include the XVS1100 Custom in 1999. The Virago 75-degree, air-cooled v-twin engine, which had been in service since the early 1980s, was overhauled for the 1100. For the new midsize cruiser bike, the Star variant provided more torque. The Virago’s shaft-drive configuration was carried over to the Star, but the suspension and frame were replaced, with a single shock and twin downtubes replacing the Virago’s outboard dual shocks and stressed-member engine arrangement. To properly meter gasoline to the 8.3:1 oversquare engine, dual Mikuni 37 mm carburetors with throttle-position sensors are utilised.

The DragStar/V-Star quickly gained popularity, prompting the release of the Classic variant in 2000. The Classic had longer fenders, floorboards, cast magnesium wheels, thicker brake and shift levers, a 7-inch headlight, substantial fork covers, and a 130 front tire, as opposed to the Custom’s bobbed rear fender, 5 and 3/4 headlight, aluminum rims with spokes, exposed forks, 110 front tire, and other custom touches. Later, as an expensive variant, a Silverado model with luxuries like as a windshield, sissy bar, and soft sidebags was offered.

The big fenders were standard on the V-Star 1100 Classic, as were the floorboards for the rider and the rocker shifter pegs. These parts were replaced in custom versions with a peg configuration and a peg up/down shifter. To imitate the Harley-Davidson 1200 Sportster, the builders also changed the conventional huge front tire with a minute thinner tire in the 90 series or 110 series.

The 1100 models were sought after motorcycles based on the dimensional characteristics of a 1,063 cc (64.9 cu in) engine and a platform weighing around 700 lb (320 kg), with 130 series front and 170 series rear tires.

Yamaha V-Star 650

Yamaha Motor Company manufactures the Yamaha DragStar 650 (also known as the V Star 650 and the XVS650/XVS650A).

The cylinders of the XVS650 (called V Star in the United States and Australia) were bored an extra 5 mm to 81 mm and stroked 4 mm more to 63 mm, resulting in a displacement of 649 cc. The XVS650 is available in two models: the Custom, which has a lower seat height of 695 mm (27.4 in) and weighs somewhat less, and the Classic, which has a higher seat height of 708 mm (27.9 in). The Custom weighs roughly 232 kg (511 lb), whereas the Classic weighs approximately 15 kg more (247 kg) (545 lb).

The Yamaha XVS650 is the entry-level model in the V-Star range in the United States. From 1998 until 2008, the Classic and Silverado models were available. Both models are powered by the same 649 cc v-twin engine. The V-Star range combines the aesthetic appeal of bigger v-twin bikes with the fuel efficiency, dependability, and agile handling of a mid-size cruiser.

The V-Star 650 (and even the 1100) are available in three different trim levels:

  • V-Star Custom (650) XVS650 – Base model for long-distance sailing. It had plastic front and back fenders and a recessed taillight under the flared rear fender. This model was also available in a Midnight Custom edition with blacked-out detailing. Raven (black metallic) was used to paint the Midnight Custom (XVS65Y-B), as well as black wheel rims and black satin trim throughout. The monochrome color palette was complemented with chrome highlights and pipes.
  • Classic V-Star (650) XVS650A – The same frame as the V-star Custom, but with a bigger front wheel, metal fenders, longer bodywork, less chromed styling, dragging handlebars, a broader seat, and a variety of other design variations.
  • V-Star Silverado (650) – Similar to the V-Star Classic, but with saddlebags and a few additional touring enhancements.

Some V-Star bikes are available in a deepish purple with flames color scheme. There were two editions of this. The XVS65T-F and XVS65TC-F are two models (CA edition). The CA version is limited to California and has a canister to restrict the release of gasoline vapor into the environment.

This container has three lines. One for the gasoline tank, one for the carburetor, and one for the vent hose. When the VIN is decoded, both of these models will show up as XVS650 or XVS650A, owing to the fact that their parts are almost similar to these two versions with very few exceptions, if any.

All of them are the basic RoadStar models. The terms RoadStar and RoyalStar primarily refer to a class of motorcycles designed and fine-tuned for touring performance.
