Indian FTR / FTR 1200 Service Manual (2019-2024)

Indian introduced the FTR 1200 for the 2019 model year, translating styling and engineering cues from its successful FTR750 American flat-track race bike into a production street motorcycle. The original machine used a high-revving 1,203 cc liquid-cooled 60-degree V-twin producing 123 hp and 87 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed transmission and chain final drive.

The first-generation FTR retained strong visual links to flat-track racing through its upright riding position, trellis frame and unusual 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel sizes. The original FTR 1200 and more highly equipped FTR 1200 S were joined by additional variants and limited editions, while the FTR Rally pushed the platform further toward scrambler styling.

Indian substantially revised the family for 2022. The FTR, FTR S and FTR R Carbon switched to 17-inch cast wheels with road-focused Metzeler tires. Suspension travel was reduced to 120 mm, lowering the motorcycle and sharpening street handling. The FTR Rally retained its 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels, 150 mm suspension travel and more relaxed ergonomics. Indian also revised engine calibration and throttle response across the range.

The FTR R Carbon placed greater emphasis on premium chassis hardware and carbon-fiber components. Its equipment included fully adjustable Öhlins suspension, Brembo braking hardware, Ride Command and the FTR's electronic rider aids.

For 2023, the FTR Sport joined the range as a street-focused model using the same 1,203 cc platform. Indian rated it at 120 hp and 87 lb-ft, with 17-inch wheels, fully adjustable suspension, three ride modes, lean-sensitive ABS, traction control, wheelie mitigation and Ride Command.

The 2024 range continued the same basic platform, with models such as the FTR, FTR Sport, FTR R Carbon and FTR Rally retaining the combination of a high-revving American V-twin and sport-oriented chassis that distinguished the FTR from Indian's cruiser and touring families.
