About the Suzuki Boulevard / Intruder
Suzuki introduced the 2005 VZ800 as a new-generation middleweight cruiser, sold in major markets under the Boulevard M50 and Intruder M800 names. Suzuki's own digital archive describes the model as the successor to the Desperado 800 and emphasizes its low, long bodywork, forward-swept handlebars, stretched fuel tank and upswept bobtail rear fender. The model combined traditional cruiser proportions with more modern styling and chassis details, including cast aluminum wheels and an oval multi-reflector headlight. Suzuki's official motorcycle archive documents the 2005 launch and the Boulevard M50 / Intruder M800 naming.
The 2005 VZ800 uses an 805 cm³ liquid-cooled 45-degree SOHC V-twin with an 83.0 × 74.4 mm bore and stroke and a 9.4:1 compression ratio. Electronic fuel injection replaced the carbureted approach associated with earlier Suzuki middleweight cruisers, improving starting, fuel metering and everyday usability. The factory manual documents the complete FI system, including dual injectors, intake-pressure sensing, throttle-position sensing, secondary throttle control, Suzuki Diagnosis System procedures and self-diagnostic fault codes.
Power passes through a wet multi-plate clutch and five-speed constant-mesh transmission to a shaft final drive. The chassis uses a 1,655 mm wheelbase, 33°15' caster, inverted telescopic front suspension and dual front brake discs, while the rear combines a swingarm suspension with a drum brake. These features give the bike a more muscular and road-focused specification than a basic entry-level cruiser and support its role as a fuel-injected 800cc V-twin cruiser intended for urban riding and relaxed highway use.
Regional branding differed even though the underlying platform was the same. The M50 name was used within Suzuki's Boulevard family, while the M800 name appeared within the Intruder range. Suzuki's 2005 annual report explicitly identifies the Boulevard M50 / Intruder M800 as VZ800, confirming that these names refer to the same model family. The platform continued after 2005, but this particular factory publication is the K5 base manual rather than a multi-year compilation. Related manuals are grouped in the Suzuki Boulevard M50 manual catalog.
This listing is specifically for the 2005 VZ800K5 factory service manual. The 454-page PDF identifies the 2005 model in its General Information section and contains no K6-K9 or 2006-2009 supplementary service sections. Verified applicability is therefore 2005 only.
