Suzuki Boulevard C109R / Intruder C1800R Service Manual (2008)

Suzuki introduced the Boulevard C109R for the 2008 model year as its flagship traditional-style heavyweight cruiser. In markets using the Intruder name, the same VLR1800 platform was marketed as the Intruder C1800R. Suzuki positioned it as a classic-styled alternative to the more aggressively designed M109R, combining a large V-twin engine with deep fenders, a low seat, wide handlebars and a long, substantial cruiser chassis. Suzuki's own historical archive identifies the C109R/C1800R as a 2008 introduction.

The C109R shared the basic 1,783 cc liquid-cooled 54-degree V-twin architecture of the M109R but was configured for a different riding character. Contemporary testing noted revised intake-cam timing, greater flywheel inertia and smaller throttle bodies intended to improve low-speed and midrange delivery. The result was a traditional cruiser with unusually strong performance for its class. Suzuki quoted 114 PS and approximately 155 Nm from the engine.

The chassis followed a more conventional cruiser layout, with a low 705 mm seat, shaft final drive, 16-inch wheels and a very wide 240-section rear tire. Suzuki also equipped the motorcycle with its Combined Brake System, linking portions of the front and rear braking systems. A touring derivative, the C109RT, added a windshield, luggage, passenger backrest and touring-oriented trim while retaining the same fundamental motorcycle underneath.

Suzuki documentation later identifies VLR1800 and VLR1800T models from 2008 through 2010, confirming that the platform continued beyond its launch year. The factory service manual offered here, however, is specifically the K8 publication prepared in January 2008, part number 99500-39360-01E, and internally identifies the machine as the VLR1800 2008-model.
