Yamaha MT-07

The Yamaha MT-07 (referred to as the FZ-07 in North America until 2017) is an MT series standard motorcycle or UJM with a 689 cc (42.0 cu in) liquid-cooled 4 stroke and 8 valve DOHC parallel-twin cylinder with crossplane crankshaft, manufactured by Yamaha Motor Company beginning in 2014 and released in the United States in 2015.

As of 2018, the bike is known in all markets as the MT-07.The bike is offered in 655 cc (40.0 cu in) Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAMS) variant for riders with Learner and Restricted licences in Australia and New Zealand.

In most ways, the MT-07 is a typical middleweight naked bike. It has a tubular backbone frame that is compact. Its rear monoshock unit is horizontally positioned within the subframe to provide a shorter wheelbase, reduce weight, and lower the center of gravity. The front forks are traditional telescopic, but the MT-09’s 3-cylinder brother features inverted forks.
The anti-lock braking system was optional on vehicles from 2015 through 2017, however it became standard equipment in 2018.

The MT-07 and MT-09 are base models from which a series of derivative bikes were to be developed.
Yamaha hired designer Shinya Kimura to build a café racer version of the MT-07. Kimura introduced the contraption, dubbed “Faster Son,” in June 2015. According to Motorcycle News, Yamaha is anticipated to release a manufacturing version based on “Faster Son” in late 2015. The Yamaha XSR700, based on the MT-07, was introduced for the 2016 model year. For the 2019 model year, Yamaha introduced the Ténéré 700, which shares the CP2 engine with the MT-07.

Yamaha V-Star 1100

Yamaha Motor Corporation manufactures the Yamaha XVS 1100 DragStar, also known as the V-Star 1100 in North America. It is available in two models: the XVS1100 Custom and the XVS1100A Classic, with the former being more contemporary and the latter being more classic, with rounder edges and weighing 13 kg (29 lb) more. The Custom has a significantly lower seat height.

The 1100, along with its 650 sister, has a worldwide fanbase. A variety of aftermarket components are available to modify the model. The revisions to the model have been evolutionary, with only modest updates.

The DragStar debuted in Europe in 1997 as the XVS650 (400 version available in Japan since 1996), and expanded to include the XVS1100 Custom in 1999. The Virago 75-degree, air-cooled v-twin engine, which had been in service since the early 1980s, was overhauled for the 1100. For the new midsize cruiser bike, the Star variant provided more torque. The Virago’s shaft-drive configuration was carried over to the Star, but the suspension and frame were replaced, with a single shock and twin downtubes replacing the Virago’s outboard dual shocks and stressed-member engine arrangement. To properly meter gasoline to the 8.3:1 oversquare engine, dual Mikuni 37 mm carburetors with throttle-position sensors are utilised.

The DragStar/V-Star quickly gained popularity, prompting the release of the Classic variant in 2000. The Classic had longer fenders, floorboards, cast magnesium wheels, thicker brake and shift levers, a 7-inch headlight, substantial fork covers, and a 130 front tire, as opposed to the Custom’s bobbed rear fender, 5 and 3/4 headlight, aluminum rims with spokes, exposed forks, 110 front tire, and other custom touches. Later, as an expensive variant, a Silverado model with luxuries like as a windshield, sissy bar, and soft sidebags was offered.

The big fenders were standard on the V-Star 1100 Classic, as were the floorboards for the rider and the rocker shifter pegs. These parts were replaced in custom versions with a peg configuration and a peg up/down shifter. To imitate the Harley-Davidson 1200 Sportster, the builders also changed the conventional huge front tire with a minute thinner tire in the 90 series or 110 series.

The 1100 models were sought after motorcycles based on the dimensional characteristics of a 1,063 cc (64.9 cu in) engine and a platform weighing around 700 lb (320 kg), with 130 series front and 170 series rear tires.

Yamaha V-Star 650

Yamaha Motor Company manufactures the Yamaha DragStar 650 (also known as the V Star 650 and the XVS650/XVS650A).

The cylinders of the XVS650 (called V Star in the United States and Australia) were bored an extra 5 mm to 81 mm and stroked 4 mm more to 63 mm, resulting in a displacement of 649 cc. The XVS650 is available in two models: the Custom, which has a lower seat height of 695 mm (27.4 in) and weighs somewhat less, and the Classic, which has a higher seat height of 708 mm (27.9 in). The Custom weighs roughly 232 kg (511 lb), whereas the Classic weighs approximately 15 kg more (247 kg) (545 lb).

The Yamaha XVS650 is the entry-level model in the V-Star range in the United States. From 1998 until 2008, the Classic and Silverado models were available. Both models are powered by the same 649 cc v-twin engine. The V-Star range combines the aesthetic appeal of bigger v-twin bikes with the fuel efficiency, dependability, and agile handling of a mid-size cruiser.

The V-Star 650 (and even the 1100) are available in three different trim levels:

  • V-Star Custom (650) XVS650 – Base model for long-distance sailing. It had plastic front and back fenders and a recessed taillight under the flared rear fender. This model was also available in a Midnight Custom edition with blacked-out detailing. Raven (black metallic) was used to paint the Midnight Custom (XVS65Y-B), as well as black wheel rims and black satin trim throughout. The monochrome color palette was complemented with chrome highlights and pipes.
  • Classic V-Star (650) XVS650A – The same frame as the V-star Custom, but with a bigger front wheel, metal fenders, longer bodywork, less chromed styling, dragging handlebars, a broader seat, and a variety of other design variations.
  • V-Star Silverado (650) – Similar to the V-Star Classic, but with saddlebags and a few additional touring enhancements.

Some V-Star bikes are available in a deepish purple with flames color scheme. There were two editions of this. The XVS65T-F and XVS65TC-F are two models (CA edition). The CA version is limited to California and has a canister to restrict the release of gasoline vapor into the environment.

This container has three lines. One for the gasoline tank, one for the carburetor, and one for the vent hose. When the VIN is decoded, both of these models will show up as XVS650 or XVS650A, owing to the fact that their parts are almost similar to these two versions with very few exceptions, if any.

All of them are the basic RoadStar models. The terms RoadStar and RoyalStar primarily refer to a class of motorcycles designed and fine-tuned for touring performance.

Yamaha XT660R/X

Yamaha Motors produced the Yamaha XT660 as a successor for the XT600, which is a dual-purpose on/off road motorbike.

It is an evolution of the original XT series (‘X’ refers for four strokes, ‘T’ means for TRAIL), a range of bikes inspired by the Paris Dakar event. The first XT was introduced in 1976. The regular Enduro variant is the XT660R (‘R’ stands for racing).

A 660 cc engine with five valves was used in a number of MZ (MuZ) bikes, including the MZ Skorpion, Baghira, and Mastiff.

After 2015, this bike was no longer available in various European nations and the United States.

Along with the XT660R, two more variants of this motorbike are being produced: the XT660X, a more street-oriented supermoto version, and the XT660Z Ténéré, an adventure touring version. All models share the same engine and certain chassis components.

Yamaha YZF-R15

The Yamaha YZF-R15 is a single-cylinder sport bike produced by Yamaha Motor Company since 2008. The second generation, dubbed v2.0, was introduced in India in September 2011, and Indonesia in April 2014. In January 2017, the third generation of the bike, dubbed v3.0, was released in Indonesia.

The engine for the first and second iterations (v2.0) was a 149.8 cc single cylinder four-stroke engine with four valves and a single overhead camshaft. The diameter and stroke dimensions were 57.0 mm 58.7 mm (2.24 in 2.31 in). This engine produced 12.2 kW (16.4 hp) of power at 8,500 rpm and 14.5 Nm (10.7 lbft) of torque at 7,500 rpm. A fan is located behind the radiator, which is located in front of the engine. The coolant reserve is located on the left side of the radiator, above and behind it. The transmission is a six-speed return type with a constant mesh wet multi-plate clutch.

The bike has a 270 mm (11 in) single disc with twin piston calipers in the front and a 220 mm single disc single piston caliper in the rear for the first and second iterations, both built by Nissin of Japan. The front suspension is a dual telescopic fork, while the rear suspension is a linked type single shock. The bike, like the others in the YZF-R series, includes twin headlamps.

The bike features a newer 155.1 cc engine for the 2017 upgrade. The bore and stroke measurements are 58.0 mm 58.7 mm (2.28 in 2.31 in). Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology is also used in this engine, which produces 14.2 kW (19.0 hp) of power at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm (10.8 lbft) of torque at 8,500 rpm. With a measured 282 mm, the front disc is bigger than the previous model (11.1 in). The front suspension has been replaced with an inverted dual telescopic fork. This version also has help and a slipper clutch.

Yamaha YZF-R7

The Yamaha YZF-R7 or OW-02 is a race homologation motorbike produced in a limited run of 500 units. It was created to participate in the Superbike World Championship as well as the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance event.

It has a 749 cc (45.7 cu in) inline-four engine with a DOHC 20-valve (5 valves per cylinder) that produces 79 kW. (106 hp).

However, Yamaha also created two R7 race kits, the first of which generated 101 kW (135 hp) when the other, unused bank of fuel injectors was engaged, as well as a pipe and ECU upgrade.

The chassis, which was drawn from information and geometry from the YZR500 motorcycles of the time, meant that the R7 was constructed for racing “out of the box.”

It has Öhlins suspension components, titanium valves and conrods, a shorter Deltabox II frame, and a dry weight of 189 kg (416 lb).

Due to its extraordinary price, top-spec Öhlins race suspension and running gear, and that the bike looked utterly amazing: genuine two-wheeled sex, Super Streetbikes magazine ranked the R7 eighth in its list, “The 10 Most Exotic Bikes Ever,” but said it was ironic that despite being the most exotic R-series bike ever, it actually turned out to be a bit of a lemon.

The difficulty was that the bike was crippled, with just 100 horsepower, and that tiny teams couldn’t afford the thousands of dollars in racing improvements required to make the R7 competitive, and when they did, the crankshafts broke. Yamaha chose to detune the engines for bikes imported into all countries to meet the German market’s maximum horsepower regulation for the sake of simplicity and cost savings, partly because whatever level it was detuned to was irrelevant, given that virtually every buyer intended to modify the bike from street-legal form to race.

When the R7 was first unveiled in 1999, only 50 would be imported into the United States, with 10 reserved for Yamaha’s factory squad.

The waiting list for the remaining motorcycles significantly outnumbered supply, prompting Cycle World’s Don Canet to warn prospective purchasers.

In 2001, motorcycling journalist Roland Brown was involved in a high-side crash while riding World Superbike racer Noriyuki Haga’s YZF-R7 during testing at Circuito de Jerez, Spain. In a 2016 retrospective, Cycle World had retired racer Freddie Spencer ride the R7 alongside five other famous racing bikes from 1986 to 2013. The R7 appeared “a touch mundane” in comparison to the other racing bikes, with its stripes and insignia being just stickers rather than painted on, and having “a subtlety to it that helps it blend into the throng.”

Yamaha V-Star 950

The Yamaha Diversion is a line of all-purpose touring bikes derived on Yamaha‘s previous XJ series. Early Diversion versions were powered by a four-stroke, air-cooled, eight-valve inline-four engine. The model name was preserved in 2009 for a new line of 16-valve liquid-cooled engines.

Prior to the introduction of the 2009 versions, the series had four main models: the XJ600S, XJ600N, XJ900S and XJ900GT, as well as the lesser-known YBR125 Diversion.

The XJ600S Diversion/Seca II

In most areas of the globe, the XJ600S is known as the Diversion, while in North America and Australia, it is known as the Seca II. The bike comes standard with a modest top fairing, but a lower fairing is available as an option. The XJ600S is a forerunner of the XJ600 vehicles produced between 1984 and 1991. It has a 598cc air-cooled 8-valve inline-four engine that produces 61 horsepower (45 kW) and 55 Nm (41 lbft). The original XJ600 engine was tweaked to boost low- and mid-range power while surrendering some peak power.

From 1992 through 2004, 600cc Diversion models were produced. From 1992 through 1998, the United States produced Seca IIs. Because the Diversion/Seca II design is based on an older, well-matured model, revisions to the bike over these years were primarily cosmetic, with a second front-brake disc and a tiny oil cooler appearing on the 1996 edition, along with carburetor upgrades.

The Diversion has a more upright riding position than other 600cc sport motorcycles, which makes it suitable for commuting. It stayed in production for a long period, owing to its low cost, low fuel consumption, lifespan, and dependability.

The XJ600N

The XJ600N is nearly identical to the XJ600S, with the exception of being a naked bike and having a new instrument panel that rotates with the handlebars. This model was not available in the United States.

The XJ900S/XJ900GT

The XJ900 is a direct descendent of the previous XJ900 model. The XJ900S and XJ900GT are the same basic motorcycle, with the GT having a huge fairing and two Krauser K2 panniers, whilst the XJ900S has a modest top fairing like the XJ600S. There are several more instruments on the dashboard (which is broader than those of the 600cc variants), such as a fuel gauge. It is a sports/tourer equipped with an 892cc air-cooled 8-valve inline-four engine producing 89 horsepower (66 kW) and 85 Nm (63 lbft). The XJ900S/GT is driven by a shaft, whereas the 600cc variants are driven by a chain.

On the European market, the XJ900S/GT is marketed as the Diversion 900. In the United States, the bike was known as the Seca XJ900RK in 1983.

Police versions

All across the world, the Yamaha Diversion has been employed as a police motorbike. Yamaha builds these versions to the demands of particular police stations. The XJ900S is often chosen for police usage, however the XJ600S has also been employed. policing requirements Diversions are popularly known to as the XJ900P (P for Police), although Yamaha refers to them by their normal model name (XJ900S or XJ600S) because they do not represent a different model.

XJ6 Diversion, XJ6 N and XJ6 Diversion F

Yamaha reintroduced the Diversion series in 2009 with the XJ6 Diversion, XJ6 N, and XJ6 Diversion F. The former features a half-fairing, but the N variant is bare. With the exception of the ABS and electronic immobilizer, the completely faired FZ6R is the American equal of the European XJ6 Diversion F variant. The engine is a detuned Fazer engine, and ABS brakes is optional on both variants. The new line has a liquid-cooled 16 valve 4-stroke forward-inclined parallel 4-cylinder engine with 78 horsepower (57 kW) / 59.7 Nm of torque. For the new Diversion series, Yamaha has retained the engine displacement at 600cc.

Around 2005, the YBR125 Diversion was also offered in France.
