Aprilia Tuono R Factory

The Aprilia Tuono is a naked motorcycle produced by Aprilia beginning in 2002. It’s inspired on the Aprilia RSV Mille. Its engine, gearbox, chassis, and, to a lesser extent, suspension are shared by its successor, the Aprilia RSV1000R superbike. The Tuono was replaced by the Aprilia Tuono V4 R for the 2011 model year, however the V2 model was still in production.

At the presentation, this innovative naked featured high power for a model without fairing (125 HP ) and a windshield derived directly from the fairing of the sports RSV Mille. Dedicated to purely road use, this 1000 is also suitable for more sporty uses, a novelty for this segment.

In 2002 was presented the RSV Mille Tuono R Limited Edition, produced in a limited series and numbered in only 200 units. Embellished with carbon and kevlar it is a real treat for collectors.

The following year (2003) is the RSV Tuono Racing which was created to consecrate the sporting nature of this bike. Carbon everywhere, aluminum forged suspension wheels make it very light, it is equipped with Öhlins. It is presented in road and track kit version. Produced in a few pieces, but of enormous success, production continued throughout 2004 but without the track kit supplied. In 2005 the liveries changed (now white tables and blue circles) but maintaining the same technical characteristics.

is the 2006 year of the generation change of the Tuono, using the components of RSV 1000 R the 2004; it is also new in its name, which loses the prefix ‘RSV’ and expresses the displacement with numerical characters, it gains in agility and weight, but also in maximum power which reaches 139Cv.

The Tuono 1000 R Factory is produced in 300 units a year, features Öhlins suspensions, forged aluminum wheels and carbon details . It was also produced in 2007 and 2008 with purely aesthetic changes.

In 2007 the Tuono 1000 R Daytona was presented , a replica of the bike that triumphed in 2007 at the endurance race in Daytona. Produced in 150 copies, it is a graphic variant of the Tuono R.

Aprilia RS250

The Aprilia RS 250 is an Italian motorcycle with a 249 cm³ twin-cylinder engine derived from that of the rival Suzuki RGV Gamma 250, but slightly revised to obtain more power at the top. The dimensions of the double diagonal aluminum beam frame, the front braking system equipped with double discs, the adjustable upside-down forks and the powerful engine made it one of the cult bikes of the nineties.

Its presentation takes place almost simultaneously with the inexplicable abandonment of the 250 cm³ sector by the Japanese manufacturers, present until the early nineties with the various TZR, RGV Gamma and RGV R and NSR. Aprilia was not discouraged by the numbers that gave the 250 market a decline, but bet on this category. The sales results and the public appreciation for the qualities of this bike proved her right.

1st Generation

Aprilia found itself not having direct competition in the sector, so the first generation of the RS 250 (produced from 1995 until 1997) was an unexpected success, also due to the very sporty characteristics of the bike. The only flaws reported by enthusiasts concerned the torque delivery which, although very linear, was lacking at low revs, the tank not very large and the problems that caused the engine to break the exhaust throttle valves, which could fall into the cylinder and cause great damage.

Aprilia ETV 1000 Caponord

The Aprilia ETV 1000 Caponord is a motorcycle street enduro motorcycle Italian Aprilia from 2001 to 2012.

The second generation of the ETV sees the debut with the adjoining restyling only in 2004 ; at first sight the modification of the front part is evident, the direction indicators integrated in the fairing give space to new arrows with teardrop profile with transparent glass.

Some internal components also change, first of all the 998cc Rotax V60 mapping becomes more usable and compliant towards lower rpm despite the intrinsic architecture of the Austrian engine cannot compromise too many. The voltage regulator, on the other hand, was partially revised. After that in the first versions it was found a wiring with a too small caliber, the new version presents a wiring of higher resistance, which unfortunately, alone, however, has not completely produced the desired effects.

The regulator of 1st equipment in fact, on both versions, has always proved to be an element of poor reliability, so much so that most of the users of these bikes have in any case opted for the adoption of an aftermarket component (Shindegen) equipped with technology more modern mosfet and certainly more suitable to avoid headaches on a vehicle born with the aim of grinding kilometers.

Different between the two versions also some details such as the protections on the sides of the silencers, first black now in natural satin finish aluminum and the shape of the central stand (always offered as an option) which in the first series tended to touch the ground in the most extreme folds.

The frame is also slightly retouched in the ABS version, with the addition of minimal but decisive reinforcement ribs in the footpeg area.

The front structure remains the same, forks 50 mm Marzocchi , but the springs are replaced with others of a progressive type. In this case too, the rear monoshock remains the Sachs to which the preload adjustment system is redesigned, while maintaining the progressive effect of the suspension. A removable rubber insulating sheath is added under the rider seat to avoid excessive heating of the saddle, especially in summer and during long stops at traffic lights in urban driving.

Also eliminated, compared to the 1st series, the two small air deflectors placed on the sides of the windshield.

Since 2004 , the bike is marketed with a standard ABS system , which can be deactivated using a button on the right side of the dashboard. It is the result of the collaboration between Brembo and Bosch and characterized by double sensors, which simultaneously read the rotation of both wheels: in the case of locking of one of the wheels due to loss of grip, the ABS pump / control unit (located in front of the shock absorber and with split and independent circuits) can intervene by modulating the pressure in a differentiated manner on the two wheels. The brake department consists of two 300 mm discs at the front (semi-floating in the ABS version of the bike only) and a single 280 mm disc at the rear (also semi-floating in the ABS version of the bike). In the latter case, the braking system includes metal braided hoses, while in the 1st series the hoses are more traditional (but in any case advertised by the manufacturer as being of superior quality). The ABS system can in any case be deactivated when driving on rough terrain such as gravel, sand and mud, where the control of the motorcycle and its stopping would be compromised by the intervention of the anti-lock system.

Furthermore, this second generation is Euro II approved.

Aprilia Tuono 1000

The Aprilia Tuono is a naked motorcycle produced by Aprilia beginning in 2002. It’s inspired on the Aprilia RSV Mille. Its engine, gearbox, chassis, and, to a lesser extent, suspension are shared by its successor, the Aprilia RSV1000R superbike. The Tuono was replaced by the Aprilia Tuono V4 R for the 2011 model year, however the V2 model was still in production.

The Tuono 1000 R, the second generation Tuono, is based on the Aprilia RSV1000R superbike from 2004 to 2009. The Tuono 1000 R and the RSV1000R vary in that the latter includes a rear shock with adjustable compression and rebound damping, as well as adjustable preload. Only the preload and rebound damping of the Tuono 1000 R are adjustable.

As a result, the basic Tuono is less useful as a track bike than the Mille. However, because the parts between the two are interchangeable and plentiful, anyone seeking to utilize the Tuono as a track bike should have no trouble changing the rear shock.

Other visual distinctions include the lack of a complete fairing, a superbike handlebar instead of clip-ons, and various color schemes. The Tuono 1000 R, like the original generation Tuono, comes fitted with a steering damper.

When compared to the first generation Tuono, the BRP-Rotax V990 60° V-Twin engine was significantly improved: different gear ratios (close ratio with longer first gear), larger throttle bodies, single spark plug, minor cosmetic changes, and an increase in power output to 99.8 kW (135.7 PS; 133.8 hp) @ 9500 rpm. @ 8500 rpm, torque rose to 11.9 kgm (117 Nm; 86 lbft).

The Tuono 1000 R is the standard version, based on the Aprilia RSV1000R, and is available from 2006 to 2010. Aprilia’s flagship naked bike is the Tuono 1000 R Factory.

Aprilia SL 750 Shiver

The Aprilia Shiver 750, also called Aprilia SL 750 Shiver, is a motorcycle sports street motorcycle Italian Aprilia from 2007 to 2016.

Previewed in November 2006 at the EICMA in Milan, the bike is characterized by being among the first to bring the Ride by Wire Technology on a production bike and on a V-twin engine. 90 °; the system consists of the electronic management of the throttle, throttle and throttle body, which acts through a control unit and changes the mapping according to three modes selectable by the motorcyclist. The “Ride by Wire” electronic throttle has three settings called Sport, Touring and Rain. Sport mode is the most performing, with the engine delivering the maximum power and torque available; Touring mode reduces the responsiveness of the engine by softening and softening the power output; Rain mode reduces torque by 25%. The digital instrument cluster is equipped with instruments that also include gear indicator.

The engine, a 749 cm³ forward-facing twin cylinder with distribution double overhead camshaft, is capable of delivering 95 HP of power at 9000 rpm and 81 Nm of torque at 8500 rpm. The frame is in aluminum for a total weight of the entire bike of 189 kg dry, the shock absorbers are both adjustable with a fork 43 mm upside-down.

A partially faired version known as the Shiver 750 GT, launched in 2009 and produced until 2013.

Aprilia RX 125 & SX 125

The Aprilia RX are the enduro motorcycles / road of house the Noale models Cross but with an electrical system that also includes the headlights, arrows , stops and various warning lights, such as the oil warning light , in addition they also have one rear-view mirror, a petrol tap with reserve, the mixer for separate lubrication and obviously the plate. The models are produced by Aprilia in displacements of 50 and 125 cm³ and are placed between enduro and off-road bikes, before the 125 version was weakened.

The Aprilia RX 125 is the higher displacement version and was produced continuously from 1985 to 1999, then after a pause it resumed production from 2008 to 2010.

Released for sale in 2008, in the wake of the Aprilia RXV 450 the new RX 125 model comes out (also in the motard version called SX) which follows its shapes with particularly angular lines and red and black coloring. The bike was not very successful also given the poverty of the materials and the economy with which it was designed and is still unpopular and not considered by RX lovers. The engine adopted was always the by now old Rotax 122, with a new frame , being in trellis of tubes with cast steel plates. Furthermore, this model has the Euro 3 homologation; It was produced until 2010.

The Aprilia SX 125 is the larger displacement version and was produced from 2007 until 2013.

This model, unlike the previous one, has a completely redesigned livery, so as to bring it closer to the “SXV”, while mechanically it adopts new solutions for compliance with the most severe anti-pollution regulations (Euro 3) and no longer uses a larger braking disc compared to the RX. The power of the bike in the free power version is around 16 kW.

Aprilia RSV4 RR

The Aprilia RSV4 is a motorcycle sport road motorcycle Italian Aprilia and in production since 2009.

Presented in two versions: the R suitable for road use, and the Factory from which the bike participating in the Superbike World Championship , with a higher cost and with competition specifications.

The market segment is maximoto, thus placing itself as the flagship vehicle of the Venetian company and replacing the Aprilia RSV 1000.

The first four-stroke high-displacement sports bike of the Aprilia was the RSV 1000, this vehicle was for a long time the top model among those conceived by the Noale house, obtaining decent results in the Superbike world championship of the early 2000s.

In 2003 prototype was presented RS Cube , destined to compete in the new MotoGP, with cutting-edge technical solutions and hitherto never used on a motorcycle, but the innovations introduced were not enough to compete with the best brands, so that the bike was soon withdrawn from competitions.

For 2015 the RSV4 has enjoyed a major technical upgrade which mainly involved the engine. While maintaining the same characteristic measurements (78 mm of bore and 52.2 mm of stroke) the horses became 201 at 13,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 115 Nm at 10,500 rpm. To achieve this increase in horsepower, while leaving the engine delivery unchanged up to the maximum torque regime, new injectors, new variable-length intake ducts, new cylinder head with redesigned intake and exhaust ducts and combustion chambers were required. through numerical control mechanical processing and no longer by fusion. Redesigned the lubrication system and the exhaust system, revised the electronic management of the valve and now equipped with two lambda sensors. Starting from 2015 the nomenclature of the two versions changes, the Factory becomes RF while the R becomes RR.

From 2005 onwards, however, Aprilia decided to restart research and development on a high-powered vehicle, the result (in 2009) the RSV4, initially conceived to race in the SBK world championship. The result was a 180 HP superbike for a dry weight of only 179 kg capable of generating 115 Nm of torque, which made it a benchmark for the sector and one of the favorite sports bikes among track day. Gas from the start ride-by-wire the traction and wheelie controls only arrived in 2011, included in the APRC package.

Much of the credit is due to the Piaggio Group, which controls the Venetian company, and which invested € 25 million in the project for 3 and a half years, and technicians such as the engineer Claudio Lombardi , known for having given the birthplace of the Lancia Delta world rally champions in the 1980s and 1990s engines Ferrari of Formula 1 in the early 1990s.

The fulcrum was in fact the engine, since previously, those mounted on the Noale superbikes were supplied by the Austrian company Rotax, while that of the RSV4 is completely Italian.
