Aprilia Tuono 1000

The Aprilia Tuono is a naked motorcycle produced by Aprilia beginning in 2002. It’s inspired on the Aprilia RSV Mille. Its engine, gearbox, chassis, and, to a lesser extent, suspension are shared by its successor, the Aprilia RSV1000R superbike. The Tuono was replaced by the Aprilia Tuono V4 R for the 2011 model year, however the V2 model was still in production.

The Tuono 1000 R, the second generation Tuono, is based on the Aprilia RSV1000R superbike from 2004 to 2009. The Tuono 1000 R and the RSV1000R vary in that the latter includes a rear shock with adjustable compression and rebound damping, as well as adjustable preload. Only the preload and rebound damping of the Tuono 1000 R are adjustable.

As a result, the basic Tuono is less useful as a track bike than the Mille. However, because the parts between the two are interchangeable and plentiful, anyone seeking to utilize the Tuono as a track bike should have no trouble changing the rear shock.

Other visual distinctions include the lack of a complete fairing, a superbike handlebar instead of clip-ons, and various color schemes. The Tuono 1000 R, like the original generation Tuono, comes fitted with a steering damper.

When compared to the first generation Tuono, the BRP-Rotax V990 60° V-Twin engine was significantly improved: different gear ratios (close ratio with longer first gear), larger throttle bodies, single spark plug, minor cosmetic changes, and an increase in power output to 99.8 kW (135.7 PS; 133.8 hp) @ 9500 rpm. @ 8500 rpm, torque rose to 11.9 kgm (117 Nm; 86 lbft).

The Tuono 1000 R is the standard version, based on the Aprilia RSV1000R, and is available from 2006 to 2010. Aprilia’s flagship naked bike is the Tuono 1000 R Factory.
