Aprilia RS250

The Aprilia RS 250 is an Italian motorcycle with a 249 cm³ twin-cylinder engine derived from that of the rival Suzuki RGV Gamma 250, but slightly revised to obtain more power at the top. The dimensions of the double diagonal aluminum beam frame, the front braking system equipped with double discs, the adjustable upside-down forks and the powerful engine made it one of the cult bikes of the nineties.

Its presentation takes place almost simultaneously with the inexplicable abandonment of the 250 cm³ sector by the Japanese manufacturers, present until the early nineties with the various TZR, RGV Gamma and RGV R and NSR. Aprilia was not discouraged by the numbers that gave the 250 market a decline, but bet on this category. The sales results and the public appreciation for the qualities of this bike proved her right.

1st Generation

Aprilia found itself not having direct competition in the sector, so the first generation of the RS 250 (produced from 1995 until 1997) was an unexpected success, also due to the very sporty characteristics of the bike. The only flaws reported by enthusiasts concerned the torque delivery which, although very linear, was lacking at low revs, the tank not very large and the problems that caused the engine to break the exhaust throttle valves, which could fall into the cylinder and cause great damage.
