Indian Motorcycle Scout

Indian Motorcycle is an American motorcycle brand that was founded in 1901 in Springfield, Massachusetts, and was manufactured until 1953. The bikes were first manufactured by Hendee Manufacturing Company, but the name was changed to Indian Motocycle Manufacturing Company in 1923.

The Indian Motorcycle factory team finished first, second, and third in the 1911 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy. During the 1910s, Indian Motorcycle became the world’s largest maker of motorcycles. The Scout, which was produced from 1920 to 1946, and the Chief, which was produced from 1922 to 1953, when the Indian Motocycle Manufacturing Company went bankrupt, were the most popular models produced by Indian Motorcycle. In the years thereafter, many groups have attempted, with varying degrees of success, to keep the Indian Motorcycle brand name alive.

Polaris Industries bought Indian Motorcycles in 2011 and relocated operations from North Carolina to their existing facilities in Minnesota and Iowa. Since August 2013, Polaris has sold a number of contemporary Indian bikes that are reminiscent of the historic look of Indian Motorcycles.

Scout (2015– )

The Indian Scout was unveiled as a 2015 model at the 2014 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The Scout 2015 is a cruiser with a 1,133 cc (69.1 cu in) liquid-cooled, double overhead camshaft V-twin engine and a chassis made up of numerous aluminum alloy castings linked together and to the engine. Motorcycle.com selected the Indian Scout the 2015 Motorcycle of the Year.
