Triumph Rocket III Service Manual (2004-2006)

Triumph introduced the Rocket III in 2004 as an entirely new type of muscle cruiser built around an exceptionally large three-cylinder engine. Triumph itself describes the original Rocket III as having arrived twenty years before the current Rocket 3 Storm and notes that it debuted with the world's largest production motorcycle engine. Its massive proportions, three-header exhaust arrangement and unusual longitudinal triple immediately distinguished it from conventional V-twin cruisers.

At the centre of the original motorcycle was a 2,294 cc liquid-cooled DOHC triple mounted longitudinally in the chassis. The factory manual specifies 142 PS at 5,750 rpm and 200 Nm at only 2,500 rpm, with power transmitted through a five-speed constant-mesh transmission and shaft final drive. A tubular-steel frame, 150-section front tyre and exceptionally wide 240-section rear tyre reinforced the Rocket III's distinctive proportions.

The original Rocket III subsequently developed into a broader model family. Triumph later added cruiser and touring derivatives, while official Triumph documentation distinguishes the standard Rocket III from the later Rocket III Touring and Rocket III Roadster. Triumph's tyre application chart places the Touring from 2008 onward and the Roadster from 2010 onward, illustrating how the range evolved beyond the specification represented by this early manual.

This particular 425-page service manual belongs to that early standard Rocket III period. It contains only Rocket III-specific specifications and procedures, and its diagnostic-tool documentation uses the 2004_01 software reference with a June 2004 service-data date. Later Triumph manuals expanded to include the Classic, Touring and eventually Roadster variants, which is why this download should remain a separate early Rocket III product rather than being presented as a generic manual for the entire 2004-2009 or 2004-2017 family.
