Suzuki Boulevard M109R / VZR1800 Service Manual (2006)

Suzuki introduced the Boulevard M109R / Intruder M1800R in 2006 as a high-performance cruiser developed around the concept of combining dramatic styling with unusually strong performance for the class. Suzuki's official digital archive describes the model as a new type of cruiser whose flowing bodywork, very large-displacement V-twin and sportbike-influenced chassis were intended to go beyond the conventional cruiser formula.

The M109R, factory model code VZR1800, uses a 1,783 cm³ liquid-cooled DOHC 54-degree V-twin with a 112.0 × 90.5 mm bore and stroke and a 10.5:1 compression ratio. The 112 mm bore was exceptionally large for a production motorcycle engine at launch. Electronic fuel injection feeds the engine, while power passes through a wet multi-plate clutch, five-speed constant-mesh transmission and shaft final drive with a 2.823 reduction ratio.

Factory dimensions give the VZR1800 a 1,710 mm wheelbase, 705 mm seat height and 315 kg dry mass. Suzuki paired the long, low cruiser layout with equipment more commonly associated with performance motorcycles, including an inverted front fork, radially mounted front brake calipers and very wide radial tires. Suzuki's archive lists 125 PS and 160 N·m for the 2006 model, reinforcing its position as a 1783cc high-performance power cruiser rather than a traditional low-output cruiser.

The service architecture reflects that combination of large-displacement cruiser design and modern electronic control. The factory manual includes ECM self-diagnosis, throttle-body and injector testing, exhaust-control servicing, cooling and semi-dry-sump lubrication procedures, five-speed gearbox service and a dedicated shaft-drive section covering the propeller shaft and final-drive assembly. Separate chassis, electrical, emissions and wiring sections document the systems required across the various export-market specifications.
