KTM 125/200 EXC XC-W

KTM AG (Kraftfahrzeug Trunkenpolz Mattighofen, previously KTM Sportmotorcycle AG) is an Austrian motorcycle, bicycle, and sports car manufacturer owned by Pierer Mobility AG and the Indian company Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV. It was founded in 1992, although its roots may be traced back to 1934. KTM AG is now the parent company of the KTM Group, which includes a variety of motorcycle brands.

KTM bikes are well-known for their off-road capabilities (enduro, motocross and supermoto). Since the late 1990s, it has moved into the manufacture of street motorcycles as well as the development of sports automobiles, especially the X-Bow. KTM sold nearly as many street bikes as off-road bikes in 2015.

KTM has been Europe’s largest motorcycle manufacturer for four years in a row, beginning in 2012. The firm is a global leader in the production of off-road motorcycles. KTM sold 203,423 motorcycles globally in 2016.

The KTM 200 is a series of two-stroke off-road enduro bikes produced by KTM, the most recent variants being the European, road-legal 200 EXC and the 200 XC-W for the US market. The 200 aims to blend the agility of a 125 cc motorbike with the power of a 250 cc motorcycle. As a tiny bore enduro bike, it has a wide-ratio gear box. Beginning in 2013, all 200s were equipped with an electronic start.

KTM 200 2012–2016

The 2012 200s has a fully redesigned frame, a new, lighter cast aluminum swing arm, a new 7 mm longer PDS rear shock with adjustable rebound and compression settings, and the newest WP forks with a broader adjustment range and new settings. CNC-machined hubs, Excel brand rims, zinc/nickel-coated spokes, and aluminum spoke nipples were included with the wheels. The redesigned bodywork included a thinner seat, a longer rear fender, and a clear fuel tank. There was a new and improved kickstarter. Between the airbox and the carburetor was a redesigned air box and filter that could be replaced without the use of tools, as well as a flow-optimized intake flange.

Electric starting was added to the 2013 200s.

The battery and starter were upgraded in 2014. The bike now has more durable seat padding, a new front fender, a modified bottom triple-clamp, a better headlamp (which uses a common H4 bulb), and new handguards. The bike kept the previous spring-type clutch, which provided a gentler lever action than other KTMs. The 2014 received a redesigned master cylinder/reservoir with a reduced piston diameter and a revised lever for a lighter pull.

KTM orange paint for the frame, Neken handlebars, black anodized rims, a new MAE speedometer, and a new, lighter 3Ah battery were all added to the 2015 200s.

To save weight, the front axle was decreased from 26 mm to 22 mm in 2016. A new skid plate, orange anodized rear sprocket, more orange plastics, and a new seat cover were added to the bike’s frame.

For the 2017 model year, the KTM 200 was discontinued. The 143.99 cc KTM 150 XC-W is thought to be the successor in the lineup.
