Malaguti Dune 125 / Dune X 125 Euro 4 Service Manual (2018-2020)

Malaguti returned to the motorcycle market under Austria's KSR Group at EICMA 2018, seven years after the original Bologna company's production had ended. The revived range concentrated heavily on accessible 125 cc motorcycles, and the Dune 125 was one of the core models shown as part of that relaunch. KSR later described EICMA 2018 as the point where it announced the reinterpretation of the Malaguti brand and presented the new range, tying the modern motorcycles to the company's long-standing focus on lightweight, youthful machines. The Dune was positioned as the adventure-touring member of the revived 125 line. Its Euro 4 platform uses a 124.2 cm³ liquid-cooled, fuel-injected single-cylinder four-stroke engine with a six-speed gearbox, wet multi-plate clutch and chain final drive. The factory service data gives a 58 × 47 mm bore and stroke and 12.0 ± 0.5:1 compression ratio. Compared with Malaguti's roadster and supermoto models, the Dune emphasised longer-distance practicality through a substantial fuel tank, upright riding position and adventure-bike chassis proportions. In standard form it used an 18-inch front wheel, 37 mm hydraulic fork and 280 mm front disc, making it the more road-oriented member of the Dune family.

The Dune X 125 developed the same platform in a more off-road-focused direction. KSR states that the DUNE125X first appeared in summer 2019 as a Black Edition variant of the DUNE125. The X version adopted a 21-inch front wheel, 41 mm fork and 300 mm front brake disc, together with taller adventure styling and a 1,435 mm wheelbase. The rear remained a 17-inch wheel with a 130/80 tyre, so the model retained road usability while gaining the stance and geometry expected of a 125cc adventure motorcycle. The larger front wheel and taller chassis are the clearest mechanical distinctions between the Dune X and the standard Dune covered by the same factory publication.

The family continued into 2020 as Malaguti expanded the revived brand. KSR's EICMA 2019 announcement included a DUNE125X Anniversary Edition for Malaguti's 90th birthday year and discussed further development of the Dune range. This makes the Dune family an important part of the first phase of the modern KSR-era Malaguti story: it started with the 2018 brand relaunch, gained the more rugged Dune X derivative in 2019 and remained part of the range into 2020. Later Euro 5 versions should be treated as a subsequent emissions generation rather than assumed to be identical to the Euro 4 machines documented here.
