About the Malaguti F15 and FireFox
Malaguti developed the F15 Firefox during the second half of the 1990s as a sport-oriented 50 cc scooter positioned above the company’s simpler urban models. Period parts documentation identifies the early liquid-cooled F15 with frame family ZJM44 from 1996, establishing the model before the 1998 service documentation represented here. The design combined compact dimensions with more substantial cycle parts than many basic 50 cc scooters, including a hydraulic front disc, a telescopic fork and, on some versions, a rear disc brake. The result was a small-capacity scooter aimed at younger riders who wanted sharper styling and road manners without moving into a larger-displacement machine.
The 1998-era F15 used the Minarelli 10 MA single-cylinder engine. Factory specifications list 49.3 cm³ displacement, a 40 × 39.2 mm bore and stroke, 12:1 compression, liquid cooling, separate oil injection and automatic CVT transmission with a dry centrifugal clutch. The chassis used a single tubular-steel backbone that split around the footboard, a 32 mm telescopic fork with 66 mm travel and a 190 mm hydraulic front disc. Depending on version, the rear brake was either a 110 mm drum or a 190 mm hydraulic disc. At 96 kg dry with a 1,268 mm wheelbase, the scooter remained compact even by 50 cc standards.
Malaguti also used the model to introduce equipment that was relatively sophisticated for its class. The factory documentation covers the Sesamo electronic immobilizer, which used a transponder key and coded ignition control, as well as catalytic-exhaust and rear-disc variants. Contemporary model and parts archives distinguish the original 1996-98 liquid-cooled version from a 1998-2000 “Twin Disks” evolution, showing how the platform gained braking and equipment upgrades without abandoning the basic chassis concept. The F15 parts and model archive also records the subsequent 1999 catalytic version.
The FireFox continued to evolve through the early 2000s. The same historical parts archive identifies a 2001 liquid-cooled restyling with Euro 1 specification, followed by later Euro 2 liquid-cooled versions and, by 2004-06, parallel air-cooled and liquid-cooled derivatives. Other catalog sources extend the F15 family further into the decade with Digit and Mechatronic variants. These changes show that the F15 name became a long-running Malaguti platform rather than a single short-lived model, with styling, emissions equipment, brakes and cooling arrangements changing substantially across its lifespan. The 1998 machine is therefore best understood as an early-generation liquid-cooled 50cc sport scooter, before the later restyles and emissions-era revisions.
This download is the 276-page factory service compilation built around the September 1998 F15 workshop section. It also includes Malaguti’s January 1998 general service reference and June 1998 shared engine/service material. Those publication dates verify the 1998 technical generation documented by this file, but they do not establish compatibility with every later F15 version. For that reason the catalog entry is limited to 1998 rather than retaining the previous 1996-2006 year range. Related factory publications are grouped in the Malaguti F15 manual catalog.
