About the Moto Guzzi Audace
Moto Guzzi introduced the Audace as part of its new-generation 1400 cc cruiser family at EICMA in late 2014. The model reached European dealerships in June 2015 alongside the Eldorado, with Piaggio describing both motorcycles as new interpretations of Moto Guzzi heritage built at Mandello del Lario around the company’s large transverse V-twin. The Audace took the more stripped-back, performance-oriented direction of the pair, with dark finishes and minimal brightwork giving it a deliberately tougher visual identity. Piaggio’s 2015 launch announcement documents the Audace’s arrival in dealerships and its place in the 1400 cc range.
At the centre of the 2015 motorcycle is a 1,379.6 cm³ transverse 90-degree V-twin. The factory service manual specifies a 104 × 81.2 mm bore and stroke, 10.5:1 compression ratio, air-and-oil cooling, electronic fuel injection with a motorised throttle, a hydraulically controlled single-plate dry clutch, six-speed gearbox and shaft final drive. These features place the bike firmly in the large-capacity performance-cruiser segment, but with the mechanical layout that distinguishes Moto Guzzi from conventional V-twin cruisers. The closed double-cradle tubular steel frame, 45 mm telescopic fork, twin rear shock absorbers, dual 320 mm front discs and 200-section rear tyre reinforce its substantial road presence.
Within the broader 1400 family, the Audace was positioned as the darker and more aggressive alternative to the touring-oriented California and the classically styled Eldorado. Its combination of the big-block engine, shaft drive and modern electronic controls gave Moto Guzzi a distinctive 1400 cc V-twin muscle cruiser during a period when the company was expanding the California-derived platform into several clearly differentiated models. Other factory publications for this family can be found in the Moto Guzzi service manual catalog.
Moto Guzzi developed the theme further for 2017 with the Audace Carbon, unveiled at Intermot in October 2016. Piaggio’s official Intermot release highlighted genuine carbon components, new handlebar electrical controls, a more comfortable riding position and matt-red details on the machined aluminium cylinder-head covers and Brembo front calipers. The Carbon retained the established Audace character while refining the presentation and ergonomics rather than replacing the underlying concept.
This listing is specifically for factory Service Station Manual 2Q000145, copyright 2015. The manual’s VIN-identification section explicitly identifies the year code F as 2015, so the catalog coverage is intentionally limited to the 2015 model year rather than assuming applicability to later Audace or Audace Carbon motorcycles.
