About the Moto Guzzi Nevada 750 and Nevada Anniversario
Moto Guzzi used the Nevada name for its middleweight custom line for roughly two decades before the 2012 update covered here. Piaggio’s 2010 annual reporting identified the Nevada Anniversario as a new product created to celebrate twenty years of the model, confirming how established the Nevada had become within the Mandello range. The line’s appeal came from combining a low seat, relaxed custom-bike proportions and a comparatively compact chassis with Moto Guzzi’s transverse V-twin architecture and shaft final drive. That formula gave the Nevada a distinct place below the larger California family rather than simply copying the layout of conventional American-style cruisers. Piaggio’s 2010 annual report provides the period context for the anniversary edition.
The Nevada Anniversario was introduced as the more eye-catching interpretation of the existing Nevada concept. Piaggio described it as a sportier, more dynamic version with a more contemporary appearance, while the core motorcycle remained recognisably part of the Nevada family. The styling changes gave the Anniversario a more muscular tail treatment and a stronger visual identity without moving it away from the accessible middleweight-custom role that had defined the range. This made it a distinct trim and styling variant rather than a completely separate mechanical platform.
For the 2012 model year, the Nevada 750 received the reworked 750 small-block engine generation shared with the contemporary V7 family. At EICMA 2011, Piaggio announced that the new Nevada would use the revised 750 twin, with increased power and torque alongside reduced fuel consumption and emissions. The factory service manual specifies a 744 cm³ air-cooled transverse 90-degree V-twin with an 80 × 74 mm bore and stroke, 10.4:1 compression ratio, Marelli MIU G3 electronic injection, a dry single-plate clutch, five-speed gearbox and cardan final drive. In practical terms, the 2012 machine remained a compact 750 cc shaft-drive cruiser, but the engine-management and induction changes brought it into the same technical generation as Moto Guzzi’s updated small-block roadsters. Piaggio’s EICMA 2011 release documents that engine update and the continuing Anniversario variant.
The chassis stayed deliberately straightforward: a modular double-cradle tubular steel frame, 40 mm conventional fork, twin rear shock absorbers, wire-spoke wheels, a 320 mm front disc and 260 mm rear disc. The factory figures list a 770 mm saddle height and 191 kg kerb weight, helping explain why the Nevada remained positioned as a manageable alternative to larger custom motorcycles. The manual also shows that the 2012 update retained extensive mechanical simplicity alongside modern electronic fuel injection, dual lambda sensors and diagnostic support through the Marelli control unit.
The Nevada line remained important enough to influence Moto Guzzi’s later custom range. In material introducing the V9 Roamer, Piaggio explicitly described the new V9 as picking up the legacy of the Nevada 750 after more than twenty years in the range. Related factory documentation is grouped in the Moto Guzzi Nevada manual catalog. This listing is specifically for Service Station Manual B043105. The manual itself is copyright 2012, its VIN example identifies year code 12 as 2012, and its engine section points to the V750 IE MY2012 engine manual, so the catalog coverage is limited to the 2012 model year rather than extending the listing to years not explicitly supported by this publication.
