Moto Guzzi V7 Stone & V7 Special E5 Service Manual (2021)

Moto Guzzi introduced the original V7 to Italian customers in 1967, establishing the transverse 90-degree V-twin and shaft-drive layout that became one of the defining mechanical signatures of the Mandello del Lario marque. The V7 name returned to regular production in 2008, beginning a modern lineage that progressed through the 750 cc V7, V7 II and V7 III generations. By 2020 the V7 III had become Moto Guzzi’s accessible classic roadster, combining traditional styling with fuel injection, ABS and traction control while preserving the compact small-block engine architecture.

For 2021 Moto Guzzi made the largest change to the modern V7 since its revival. The company dropped the Roman-numeral generation name and introduced a substantially reworked 853 cc platform derived from the V85 TT engine. Power rose by 25 percent from the V7 III’s 52 hp to 65 hp at 6,800 rpm, while torque increased to 73 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The chassis was revised to handle the additional performance, including a larger swingarm and updated rear section, while the six-speed gearbox, shaft drive, dual-channel ABS and adjustable MGCT traction control retained the model’s familiar easy-going character. The two launch versions deliberately emphasized different sides of the same platform. The V7 Stone was the more contemporary and minimalist interpretation, with cast alloy wheels, a single digital instrument and a full-LED lighting system whose daytime-running light formed the Moto Guzzi eagle motif. The V7 Special kept the more traditional visual language, using wire-spoke wheels, extensive bright detailing and a twin analogue instrument cluster. Both shared the same 853 cc engine, 21-litre fuel tank, 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel sizes, Brembo front brake and classic double-cradle frame layout.

The 850 cc V7 family broadened after launch without abandoning the basic platform. Moto Guzzi offered a Centenario treatment during its 2021 centenary year, while the V7 Stone Special Edition added a more overtly sporting interpretation for 2022 with dedicated graphics, bar-end mirrors and an Arrow exhaust system. These derivatives reinforced the separation between the understated Stone, the heritage-focused Special and more expressive limited editions, while the core 850 cc Euro 5 architecture remained the foundation of the range.

A clear technical generation break arrived for 2025. Moto Guzzi updated the V7 to Euro 5+, introduced ride-by-wire throttle control, cruise control and additional electronic functions, and revived the V7 Sport name with twin front discs, an upside-down fork and an inertial platform.
