About the Husqvarna TE250 and TE300

Husqvarna entered a new era in 2013 when the KTM Group, already the owner of Husaberg, acquired Husqvarna Motorcycles and reunited two branches of the original Swedish engineering lineage. Husqvarna's own brand history describes 2013 as the point when the two halves came together again, with motorcycle development and production relocating to Mattighofen, Austria. The 2014 enduro range was the first major product expression of that change, combining Husqvarna identity and Swedish-inspired blue, yellow and white styling with the mature off-road technology developed within the KTM/Husaberg group. Husqvarna's official brand history documents that transition.

The TE250 became the 249 cm³ two-stroke option in this new Austrian-built enduro family. Its 66.4 × 72 mm engine, reed-valve intake, adjustable exhaust control, six-speed gearbox, hydraulic clutch and electric-plus-kick starting gave it the flexibility needed for technical enduro rather than motocross. Contemporary testing noted that the 2014 machine was closely related to the final Husaberg TE250 but differed in important chassis details, particularly the linkage rear suspension paired with the WP 4CS fork. That combination helped define the linkage-suspended two-stroke enduro platform that distinguished the reborn Husqvarna from KTM's PDS-equipped XC-W/EXC relatives.

The TE300 used the same basic chassis and transmission layout with a larger 293 cm³ engine and 72 × 72 mm bore and stroke. Cycle World's 2014 TE300 first ride described the bike as the beginning of Husqvarna's next chapter under KTM and emphasized its combination of strong torque, agile handling and compliant suspension. The 300 was designed to carry taller gears and deliver more low-speed traction than the 250, while the 250 retained a more responsive, rev-oriented feel. Both models used the same 11-litre fuel capacity, WP 4860 4CS fork, linkage-operated WP rear shock, 260/220 mm disc brakes and 21/18-inch enduro wheel format.

The 2014 TE 250 and TE 300 therefore sit at an important generational junction: they are neither the earlier Italian-built Husqvarnas nor simply white KTMs. Contemporary reports described strong Husaberg influence in the engines, controls and suspension technology, while the linkage rear suspension and Husqvarna-specific setup gave the bikes their own chassis character. Market versions also differed in gearing, tires, carburetor jetting, lighting equipment and wiring, which is why the factory documentation separates EU, Australian and US specifications.

A clear generational break arrived for 2017. Period testing of the 2017 TE 250 and TE 300 describes all-new engines, new frames and new WP suspension, with major reductions in vibration and weight. Later, Husqvarna moved the TE 250 and TE 300 to fuel injection, creating another major technical change. This download is specifically the 2014 factory Repair Manual covering TE 250 EU/AU/US and TE 300 EU/AU/US; it does not state 2015 applicability. Related publications are grouped in the Husqvarna TE250 manual catalog.
