About the Husqvarna FE250
Husqvarna entered a new modern era in 2013 when the KTM Group acquired Husqvarna Motorcycles and reunited the marque with Husaberg, whose founders had originally split from Husqvarna after the company’s motorcycle operations moved from Sweden to Italy. Development and production moved to Mattighofen, Austria, and the first new-generation motocross and enduro range appeared for 2014. Husqvarna’s official brand history identifies this reunification as the start of the company’s modern Austrian period. See Husqvarna Motorcycles’ official brand history.
The 2014 FE250 became the smallest-capacity four-stroke enduro model in that renewed range. Its 249.91 cm³ liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine used a 78 × 52.3 mm bore and stroke, 12.8:1 compression, dual overhead camshafts and four valves operated through cam levers. Electronic fuel injection, electric starting, a hydraulically operated wet multi-disc clutch and a six-speed gearbox gave the motorcycle a modern competition-enduro specification. The 250 four-stroke format emphasized controllable power, low rotating mass and easier handling over long technical sections rather than the outright torque of the larger FE 350, FE 450 and FE 501 models.
The chassis reinforced that lightweight four-stroke enduro motorcycle character. A chromium-molybdenum steel central-tube frame was paired with a WP 4860 4CS upside-down fork offering 300 mm of travel and a WP 5018 linkage shock providing 330 mm at the rear. The 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels, 260 mm front brake, 220 mm rear brake, 1,482 mm wheelbase and 970 mm seat height were aimed at technical off-road use. Regional EU/AU and US versions shared the same core platform while differing in road equipment, final-drive gearing, tyres and fuel-tank specification.
The FE 250 remained an important part of Husqvarna’s enduro line as the platform evolved through successive generations. Later versions received increasingly compact engines, revised frames and suspension, and more sophisticated electronics while retaining the basic role established by the early Mattighofen-era machine: a highly manageable 250 cc four-stroke for technical enduro riding and competition. Husqvarna’s 2024 new-generation release highlights a major later break, with a much more compact DOHC engine, revised engine positioning and a new chassis architecture. See Husqvarna’s 2024 enduro generation announcement.
This product is specifically the 2014 FE 250 factory repair publication, article 3403002en, covering EU, AU and US versions. The uploaded 278-page manual is marked 2014 throughout; the 08/2015 back-cover date reflects a later printing or revision, while a separate complete 2015 FE 250 repair manual exists. Related documentation is grouped in the Husqvarna FE250 service manual catalog.
