About the Husqvarna FC250

Husqvarna entered a new chapter in 2013 when the KTM Group acquired Husqvarna Motorcycles and reunited the marque with Husaberg, whose founders had originally split from Husqvarna in 1988. Development and production moved to Mattighofen, Austria, while the revived company retained Husqvarna’s long-standing identity in motocross and enduro competition. Husqvarna’s official brand history describes 2013 as the beginning of this modern Austrian era and the reunification of the two branches of the original Swedish off-road tradition. See Husqvarna Motorcycles brand history.

The 2014 FC250 was part of the first motocross generation developed for that renewed era. Built for the 250 cc four-stroke motocross class, it used a 249.91 cm³ liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with a 78 × 52.3 mm bore and stroke, 13.9:1 compression, dual overhead camshafts and four valves operated through cam levers. Electronic fuel injection, electric starting, a hydraulically operated wet multi-disc clutch and a five-speed claw-shifted gearbox gave the machine a distinctly modern competition specification. A selectable engine map allowed the rider to alter response characteristics for track conditions.

The chassis followed the same competition-first approach. A central-tube chromium-molybdenum steel frame was paired with a WP 4860 MXMA CC upside-down fork offering 300 mm of travel and a WP 5018 rear shock with 317 mm of rear-wheel travel. The motorcycle used 21-inch front and 19-inch rear motocross wheels, 260 mm and 220 mm brake discs, a 1,495 mm wheelbase and a 992 mm unloaded seat height. With an approximate weight of 104.1 kg without fuel, the package was designed as a 250 cc four-stroke motocross motorcycle focused on low mass, responsive suspension and strong high-rpm engine performance.

The FC 250 quickly became central to Husqvarna’s return to top-level MX2 racing. Husqvarna later noted that Jacky Martens and JM Racing had worked with the company from 2014, helping re-establish the brand in international motocross and demonstrating the competitiveness of the FC 250 in the 250 cc four-stroke class. See Husqvarna’s official JM Racing retrospective. The platform continued to evolve in subsequent model years as Husqvarna refined suspension, chassis behavior, engine response and electronics.

This product is specifically the 2014 FC 250 EU factory repair publication, article number 3403007en. The uploaded 241-page manual is marked 2014 throughout, while Husqvarna issued a separate 2015 FC 250 repair manual under article number 3403012en; the two model years should therefore not be combined for this file. Related documentation is grouped in the Husqvarna FC250 service manual catalog.
