About the Yamaha V-Star 1300 and XVS1300

Yamaha introduced the V-Star 1300 for the 2007 North American model year as an all-new middleweight cruiser positioned above the long-running V Star 1100. Yamaha's June 2006 launch announcement says the new machine was developed in response to higher highway cruising speeds and demand for more comfort, while preserving the approachable character that had made the 1100 successful. The result was a larger, roomier cruiser intended to combine easy operation with stronger high-speed cruising performance. See Yamaha's official V Star 1300 launch release.

The new platform centered on a 1,304 cm³ liquid-cooled 60-degree V-twin with single overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and electronic fuel injection. Factory specifications list a 100.0 × 83.0 mm bore and stroke and 9.5:1 compression ratio. Power is transmitted through a wet multi-disc clutch and five-speed constant-mesh gearbox to a belt final drive. Yamaha's launch material emphasized the engine's stronger cruising and acceleration performance while retaining the pulse character expected from a V-twin, making the motorcycle a practical 1300 cc fuel-injected belt-drive cruiser rather than simply a larger version of the previous 1100.

The chassis was also newly designed around a double-cradle frame, 1,690 mm wheelbase and 715 mm seat height. Both versions use 16-inch cast wheels, dual front discs and a single rear disc. The standard XVS13AW(C) is listed at 303 kg ready to ride, while the XVS13CTW(C) Tourer is heavier because of its touring equipment. The factory chassis section gives the Tourer dedicated procedures for its windshield, leather sidebags and passenger backrest, showing that the CT was more than a cosmetic designation.

The XVS1300 designation identifies the broader technical model family behind the V Star 1300 name. In this first-year service publication, Yamaha separates the standard XVS13AW(C) and touring XVS13CTW(C) variants but gives them the same 1,304 cm³ engine architecture, fuel-injection system, five-speed transmission and belt drive. The 2007 model therefore represents the launch specification for the platform, following the V Star/XVS1100 generation and establishing Yamaha's next step in the mid-size cruiser class.

For related documentation, browse the Yamaha V-Star 1300 category or the broader Yamaha service-manual catalog. This listing is based specifically on service publication LIT-11616-20-42 / 3D8-28197-10 for XVS13AW(C) and XVS13CTW(C). It is first edition August 2006 and the final wiring diagram is labeled 2007; no later model-year supplements are included, so the verified applicability is 2007 only.
