Aprilia RS 50

The Aprilia RS 50 is the smallest sports model of the Aprilia house, this model like the 125 has changed various liveries over the years by imitating its older sister and also some components.

The second generation, produced from 1997 to 2005, brought the front wheel to 17″, with the larger channels of the two wheels both at the front (2.50″ instead of 2.15″) and the rear (3.00″ instead of 2.75″) and the use of the more traditional double arm suspension thus bringing the transmission and the braking system on two distinct sides of the bike. The frame was also totally changed compared to the first generation.

The fairing became more bulky and voluminous, wanting to replicate the 125/250 grand prix versions. The weight dropped from about 92-93 kg to 89 kg.

The model was initially in competition with others, including Honda with the NSR 50 and the Cagiva Mito 50. The RS 50 was a good compromise between quality and price. Over the years, most of the competitors then disappeared and were subsequently replaced by other equally competitive and modern competitors such as the TZR 50 and GPR 50.
