Kawasaki Z H2 / Z H2 SE Service Manual (2020-2022)

The Kawasaki Z H2 was introduced for the 2020 model year as the flagship of Kawasaki’s Z naked-bike range. It brought the company’s 998 cc supercharged inline-four engine, previously associated with the Ninja H2 family, into a more upright and road-focused platform. Kawasaki paired the engine with a trellis frame, advanced electronic rider aids, TFT instrumentation, cruise control and a bidirectional quick shifter.

For 2021, Kawasaki expanded the range with the Z H2 SE. The SE retained the same supercharged engine and basic chassis architecture but added Kawasaki Electronic Control Suspension (KECS) with Showa Skyhook technology. It also received upgraded Brembo braking components, giving the SE a more sophisticated suspension and braking package than the standard Z H2.

The 2022 Z H2 and Z H2 SE continued the same core platform, with the standard model retaining conventional adjustable Showa suspension while the SE continued with electronically controlled KECS suspension. Both versions shared Kawasaki’s supercharged 998 cc engine and extensive electronics package, including traction control, KIBS ABS, riding modes, launch control and IMU-based chassis management.

In the factory service manual, the standard Z H2 is identified within the ZR1000K family, while the Z H2 SE uses the ZR1000L designation. The manual therefore includes procedures specific to both versions, including supercharger servicing, ABS and self-diagnosis, electrical systems, and SE-specific KECS suspension components and circuits.
