About the Kawasaki Z800

Kawasaki introduced the Z800 for the 2013 model year as the successor to the Z750, one of the brand's established European middleweight naked bikes. In its official INTERMOT 2012 announcement, Kawasaki described the Z800 as a complete makeover of the Z750, with displacement increased from 748 cc to 806 cc, stronger torque across the rev range, revised chassis performance and more aggressive bodywork. The launch also tied the model to the wider Z lineage, arriving forty years after the original Z1 and positioning the Z800 as a modern street-focused expression of Kawasaki's four-cylinder naked-bike formula.

The motorcycle's core identity is its 806 cc inline-four naked bike platform. The liquid-cooled DOHC four-cylinder engine uses a 71.0 × 50.9 mm bore and stroke, 11.9:1 compression and four 34 mm Mikuni fuel-injection throttle bodies. In the factory specifications, ZR800A/B versions are rated at 83.0 kW (113 PS), while ZR800C/D versions use a reduced-output specification of 70.0 kW (95.2 PS). Power is transmitted through a wet multi-disc clutch, six-speed constant-mesh gearbox and chain final drive. A tubular diamond frame, 17-inch wheels, dual front discs and available ABS complete a package designed around road performance rather than supersport ergonomics.

The Z800 remained in Kawasaki's range through the middle of the decade, but its service documentation evolved as the model years progressed. Kawasaki's official parts records for 2014 and 2015 list service manual revision 99924-1463-03, and the 2016 Z800 ABS Owner Center lists revision 99924-1463-04 for the same ZR800A/B/C/D family. That continuity shows the underlying platform remained recognizably the same, while the revision changes also matter when matching workshop information to a specific year. Kawasaki's corporate model history records the Z800's release in 2012 and the Z900's release in 2016, marking the move to the next generation of the brand's large-capacity naked line.

For owners researching this platform, the useful catalog distinction is therefore between the original 2013 factory publication and the later revised editions. This download contains the original 99924-1463-01 book and its model-application table explicitly names only the 2013 ZR800A/B/C/D variants, so it is conservatively cataloged for 2013 rather than assuming complete later-year coverage. Related Kawasaki naked-bike manuals can be found in the Z800 manual category.
