Genuine Moto Guzzi Service Station Manual 2Q000466, copyrighted 2021, for the V7 E5 Stone and Special 853 cc (Euro 5) models. This searchable/printable 329-page English factory service publication includes pre-delivery inspection, model-specific Stone and Special technical data, dimensions and torque specifications, special tools, scheduled maintenance at 1,500 km then 10,000-km intervals, engine/gearbox/final-drive lubrication, external engine service and 0.10 mm intake / 0.15 mm exhaust valve clearance, air filter and EFI servicing, diagnostics for Magneti Marelli MIU G4, component and loom routing, variant-specific lighting and wiring diagrams, ABS diagnosis and service, engine removal from the chassis, throttle-body and fuel-system diagrams, 40-mm fork and shock service, steering/wheels, swingarm/Cardan drive, bevel gear bearings and seals, front/rear disc brakes and hydraulic servicing, and comprehensive bodywork procedures. Important scope limitation: the engine chapter (PDF page 184) directs internal engine components and rebuilding to the separate 'MSS Engine 850 Euro 5' publication; this book is not a standalone complete engine-overhaul manual. The 2021 Stone and Special share the drivetrain but have different instrumentation, wheel, lighting and equipment arrangements.

About the Moto Guzzi V7 Special and V7 Stone

Moto Guzzi introduced the first V7 road motorcycles to Italian riders in 1967, following the debut of its transverse 90-degree V-twin engine and shaft-drive architecture. The original 700 cc machine combined practical touring ability with a mechanical layout that would become one of the manufacturer's most recognizable signatures. The V7 Special and V7 Sport extended the family in the late 1960s and early 1970s, establishing both a touring and a more sporting interpretation of the transverse twin. Although later generations of Moto Guzzi motorcycles developed along different lines, the V7 name retained a particularly strong association with straightforward styling, visible mechanical design and the Mandello del Lario factory.

The modern V7 story began in 2008 with the V7 Classic, a 744 cc retro roadster that deliberately echoed the proportions of the historic machines while providing contemporary electronic fuel injection and everyday usability. The family soon expanded with the V7 Café Classic and Racer, followed in the early 2010s by the modern Stone and Special variants. The V7 Stone adopted a restrained, contemporary appearance, while the V7 Special emphasized classic finishes and period-inspired details. Both shared the transverse V-twin, upright riding character and Cardan final drive, helping make the modern V7 one of the most recognizable and accessible motorcycles in the Moto Guzzi range.

The V7 II arrived for 2015 with a revised six-speed gearbox, increased attention to rider ergonomics and an expanded electronic-safety specification that included ABS and traction control. For 2017, the V7 III introduced another round of engine refinements and model-specific equipment, while continuing the 744 cc small-block platform. The Stone, Special and Racer variations remained differentiated principally by styling and equipment, rather than radically different basic engines. These successive versions allowed the manufacturer to modernize a familiar riding experience without discarding the V7's classic silhouette or its maintenance-friendly shaft-drive identity. By the end of the decade, however, stricter emissions requirements and expectations for stronger real-world performance made a larger technical change necessary.

For the 2021 model year, the company unveiled the 2021 V7 Euro 5 generation, replacing the previous 744 cc unit with a substantially revised 853 cc transverse V-twin related to the V85 TT engine family. Officially announced in December 2020 and launched in 2021, the new model abandoned the Roman-numeral naming scheme: it was called simply V7, rather than V7 IV. Output rose to around 65 hp, while the stronger engine was accompanied by reinforced frame elements at the steering head, a more substantial shaft final drive, a wider rear tyre, longer-travel rear shocks and revised rider contact points. The manufacturer's December 2020 announcement expressly identifies these changes and the two initial 2021 variants.

The 2021 Stone and Special continued to express different aspects of the same motorcycle. The Stone combined satin-finish colors, cast-alloy wheels, a circular digital display and a full-LED headlight with its characteristic illuminated Moto Guzzi eagle. The Special preserved a more traditional roadster character through wire-spoked wheels, refined paint and two analog-style instruments. Both used the 853 cc air-cooled engine, mechanical six-speed gearbox, ABS and adjustable MGCT traction control. This was the first new-generation V7 to be sold during the company's centenary year, connecting the 1967 nameplate with current emissions and everyday performance standards. The official February 2021 presentation details the model's historical importance and the differentiated styling of the two versions. Earlier generations are also represented in the Moto Guzzi service manual catalog.
