About the Suzuki GSF1200 and GSF1200S

Suzuki developed the Bandit 1200 family as a large-displacement road motorcycle combining a strong four-cylinder engine with relatively simple, practical chassis design. Suzuki's official Bandit digital archive traces the model from the original GSF1200 through the Bandit 1200/1200S generation and into the later Bandit 1250. The 1200 platform emphasized strong low- and mid-range acceleration, an upright riding position and everyday road usability rather than the focused ergonomics of a supersport motorcycle.

The naked GSF1200 and half-faired GSF1200S K6 use a 1,157 cm³ four-stroke DOHC inline-four with a 79.0 × 59.0 mm bore and stroke and a 9.5:1 compression ratio. Factory specifications list four Mikuni BSR36 carburetors, a wet multi-plate clutch, a five-speed constant-mesh transmission and chain final drive with a 45/15 reduction ratio. Although the specification table identifies the engine as air-cooled, the factory manual also details Suzuki's oil-cooling system, including an oil cooler and oil jets directed at the high-temperature cylinder-head combustion-chamber area.

For the K6 generation, factory dimensions include a 1,480 mm wheelbase and an adjustable 785/805 mm seat height. Dry mass is listed at 212 kg for the naked model and 215 kg for the faired version. Both use telescopic front suspension, link-type rear suspension, twin front disc brakes and 17-inch radial tires. The GSF1200S adds a half fairing and model-specific lighting while sharing the same basic engine, drivetrain and chassis architecture.

This late version of the oil-cooled Bandit 1200 represents the mature form of Suzuki's carbureted 1200cc road motorcycle platform before the liquid-cooled, fuel-injected Bandit 1250 generation documented by Suzuki for 2007. The K6 manual still centers on carburetor synchronization, valve-clearance service, hydraulic-clutch maintenance, drive-chain adjustment and conventional electrical diagnosis, making it mechanically distinct from the electronically managed 1250 that followed.

This listing is specifically for the complete 447-page K6 factory service manual covering the 2006 GSF1200 and GSF1200S. It does not contain earlier-year base sections or later model-year supplements, so verified applicability is 2006 only. Related publications are organized in the Suzuki GSF1200 manual catalog.
