About the Kawasaki Pulsar 200 NS and Rouser 200 NS
Bajaj developed the Pulsar 200 NS as a new-generation extension of the Pulsar performance family. Bajaj Auto's 2011–12 annual report says the completely new engine and vehicle platform was created to carry the Pulsar legacy forward and sharpen the brand's sports image; the model was unveiled in January 2012 and launched in India in May 2012. The NS designation reflected its naked-sport positioning rather than the more conventional Pulsar layouts that preceded it.
The original platform combined a liquid-cooled SOHC four-valve single-cylinder engine with triple-spark ignition, a six-speed transmission and a perimeter frame. Bajaj highlighted the perimeter chassis for lateral rigidity, along with a centrally positioned muffler, Nitrox monoshock rear suspension and disc brakes at both ends. In this factory specification the BR200AD/AE engine displaces 200 cc, uses a 72.0 × 49.0 mm bore and stroke and 11:1 compression, with a UCAL UCD33 carburetor. That made it a 200 cc liquid-cooled naked sport bike aimed at combining accessible road performance with more sophisticated chassis and engine technology than earlier small-capacity Pulsars.
Kawasaki became directly involved in the platform's regional expansion. Kawasaki Heavy Industries' June 2013 announcement introduced the Pulsar 200NS for Indonesia under the new Kawasaki Bajaj brand, noting that Kawasaki and Bajaj had collaborated since 1985 and that the companies made market-specific improvements for Indonesia. Bajaj's 2013–14 annual report likewise records the model's Indonesian launch under the joint Kawasaki Bajaj name. The related Rouser 200 NS name was used within Kawasaki's Southeast Asian distribution context, and this factory publication explicitly carries both Pulsar 200 NS and Rouser 200 NS titles.
The NS platform subsequently evolved well beyond this early carbureted form. Modern NS200 versions retain the basic naked-sport concept and perimeter-frame identity while adding fuel injection, ABS, upside-down forks and updated instruments and lighting in many markets. Bajaj's 2024 NS-series update illustrates how the line continued to develop while preserving the original model's emphasis on performance-oriented street riding.
This download is specifically factory publication 99924-1469-02, whose Model Application table covers 2013 BR200AD and 2014 BR200AE. The old 2012–2014 catalog range has therefore been corrected to 2013–2014. Related manuals can be browsed in the Pulsar 200 NS service manual category.
