About the Triumph Daytona 675
The Triumph Daytona 675 entered production for the 2006 model year as an all-new middleweight supersport motorcycle. Rather than following the four-cylinder layout used by most of its Japanese competitors, Triumph developed a compact 675 cc three-cylinder engine, giving the Daytona a distinctive combination of high-revving performance and strong mid-range torque. Triumph describes the launch as a major turning point for the Daytona name, with the 675 earning widespread acclaim after its introduction.
The original motorcycle used a 674.8 cc transverse inline triple with twelve valves and DOHC, producing 125 PS at 12,500 rpm and 72 Nm at 11,750 rpm in the specification documented by this factory manual. It was paired with a six-speed transmission, twin-spar aluminium frame, fully faired supersport bodywork and radial-mount four-piston front brakes. The manual lists a dry weight of 165 kg, helping explain why the Daytona quickly developed a reputation for agility alongside its unusual triple-cylinder character.
The Daytona 675 also established itself in competition. Triumph records the model's involvement in supersport racing from 2006, and Glen Richards won the 2008 British Supersport Championship on a Daytona 675, giving Triumph its first British championship of the modern Hinckley era. Racing development subsequently influenced the road motorcycle, with Triumph using experience from the 2008 Supersport World Championship when developing the next update.
For 2009, Triumph substantially revised the Daytona 675, increasing output to 128 PS, raising the rev limit, introducing a hydraulic cam-chain tensioner and higher first-gear ratio, reducing weight and revising the suspension and brakes. Those changes provide a useful boundary for this service manual: its 125 PS specification and earlier mechanical configuration identify it with the original 2006-2008 Daytona 675. The Street Triple, although derived from the Daytona platform and introduced in 2007, is a separate model and is not covered by this particular 425-page PDF.
