About the Triumph Daytona 675 R and Street Triple R

Triumph substantially revised both of its 675 platforms for the 2013 model year, following the successful Daytona 675 and Street Triple families established during the previous decade. Triumph's own historical timeline identifies this period as a major update for both motorcycles. The new-generation service manual begins at VIN 564948 for the Daytona 675 and Daytona 675 R and VIN 560477 for the Street Triple and Street Triple R, clearly separating these motorcycles from the earlier generation documented by publication 3856750.

The 2013 Daytona 675 was extensively redesigned, with a revised 674.8 cc triple using a shorter 49.58 mm stroke and larger 76 mm bore, a 13.10:1 compression ratio and 128 PS output. Triumph also revised the chassis and moved the exhaust beneath the engine, while adding a slip-assist clutch and switchable ABS. The Daytona 675 R built on the same platform with Öhlins NIX30 front suspension, an Öhlins TTX rear shock, Brembo monobloc brakes and a factory quickshifter.

The Street Triple and Street Triple R were redesigned at the same time, retaining the 675 cc triple concept but receiving a new chassis, revised weight distribution and a low-mounted exhaust replacing the previous under-seat system. The changes reduced overall weight and moved mass lower and farther forward. The R retained its more performance-focused role with upgraded suspension and radial front braking hardware, while ABS became available within this generation. The factory manual reflects those differences with separate specifications, brake procedures, suspension data and complete wiring diagrams for the standard and R versions.

This 675-generation Street Triple ran through 2016 before Triumph introduced the 765 cc Street Triple family for 2017. Triumph explicitly describes the 765 range as the evolution from the earlier 675 platform. For this catalog page, I would therefore use 2013-2016 rather than the current blanket 2013-2017 claim. The attached 3856909 manual itself specifies the starting VINs but does not provide an upper model-year application table, so extending the page to 2017 would be less precise for a product covering all four 675 models.
