Triumph Tiger 1200 XCx Service Manual (2018-2021)

Triumph introduced the substantially revised Tiger 1200 range for the 2018 model year, dropping the Explorer name from the consumer-facing model designation. Although the motorcycles retained the familiar 1,215 cc three-cylinder and shaft-drive architecture, Triumph described the 2018 family as extensively redeveloped, with up to 100 improvements and weight reductions of as much as 10 kg depending on model. The engine was also revised for sharper response, producing 141 PS at 9,350 rpm and 122 Nm at 7,600 rpm.

Within that range, the Tiger 1200 XCx was the main off-road-focused model below the flagship XCa. It used tubeless wire-spoke wheels and combined WP suspension with Triumph's Semi-Active Suspension system. Standard technology included a 5-inch TFT display, keyless ignition, LED lighting, five riding modes including Off-Road Pro, updated cruise control, an IMU, optimised cornering ABS and traction control, a torque-assist hydraulic clutch and an electrically adjustable windscreen.

The platform continued through the end of this Tiger 1200 generation. Triumph's parts system groups the XCx under Tiger 1200 up to VIN AV5526, and also places the later Tiger 1200 Desert special edition in the same underlying parts family. The XCx was still offered for the 2021 model year, retaining the 1,215 cc triple and its established chassis and electronics package.

Triumph then replaced this platform with the all-new Tiger 1200 generation for 2022. That motorcycle switched to a 1,160 cc T-plane triple and a completely reorganized GT and Rally model family, with new chassis, shaft drive and electronics. Triumph's own documentation describes the 2022 engine, gearbox, clutch and final-drive assembly as completely new compared with the preceding generation. This provides a clear catalog boundary: the attached 867-page XCx manual belongs to the 2018-2021 1,215 cc generation, not the 2022-onward GT/Rally platform.
