Suzuki GSR600 Baby B-King

The Suzuki GSR600 is a 599 cc (36.6 cu in) 16 valve inline-four engine motorcycle manufactured by Suzuki since 2006, designed as a streetfighter-styled middleweight street-bike based on the 2004 GSXR-600 engine.
The engine has been retuned to produce more useful middle power and torque.
The rebound and compression of the rear shock are also adjustable.

Suzuki introduced the B-King concept bike, dubbed the, in 2001. With a modified GSX-1300R Hayabusa engine and a novel look for a street bike, it made a big impact on motorcycle aficionados all over the world. The B-King, on the other hand, did not see production (although it finally did in 2007). Instead, in December 2005, the GSR600, a naked bike, was revealed with the tagline “Modern Art meets Race Technology.” It was first dubbed the “Baby B-King” or “Baby King” because to its extremely similar design flair. It included parts generally reserved for higher-end flagship models, including as the four-piston Tokico braking system used on the GSX-R600 series.

2006 model

The first model was available in showrooms in January 2006.

2006 S-model

The GSR600S or ‘S’-model, an updated version of the motorbike, was launched in the middle of 2006. It varies from the normal model in that it comes with a stock windscreen, a radiator protection grill, and carbon-fibre lamination on certain areas.

2007 model

ABS was added to the lineup in several areas between 2007 and 2008.

Suzuki TU250X

The Suzuki TU250, also known as the TU250X, ST250, and ST250 E-Type, is a single-cylinder, air-cooled motorcycle that Suzuki introduced in 1994 as a lightweight street bike.

The TU has a single overhead cam (SOHC), unsleeved, four-stroke engine with chain drive, a conventional riding position, and appearance reminiscent of the Universal Japanese Motorcycle (UJM) of the 1960s and 1970s.

The TU250, now in its second generation, is built in Suzuki‘s ISO 14001 certified assembly factory in Toyokawa, Japan, and is sold in Asia, Oceania, and North America.

Second generation

Suzuki introduced the second generation TU during the 37th Tokyo Motor Show in 2003, describing it at the time as:

“The ST250/ST250 E type is a street motorbike with a conventional, uncomplicated look that is created to produce a sense that is both familiar and nostalgic. Its performance and equipment make it ideal for relaxed, everyday rides.”

The ST250 and ST250 E-Type were formally released to the Japanese domestic market in December 2003 for model year 2004, with the latter featuring a higher level of trim, including a two-tone fuel tank, polished engine, chromed exhaust pipe, CDI ignition, a kick starter, and electronic start. Suzuki Motor America began marketing the second generation motorbike in North America as the TU250X for model year 2009, with a two-year delay between 2010 and 2014 to allow the company to adapt imports to demand. The TU250X model was released in Australia in 2011.

The TU250x was powered by a twin valve, single cylinder engine with a closed-loop Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system (marketed as Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV)) and a 32-bit ECU, oxygen sensor, catalytic converter, integral cold-start system, 32mm throttle body 10-nozzle injector, and a proprietary air injection system (marketed as Suzuki Pulsed-secondary AIR-injection or PAIR) that introduced fresh air from the airbox The TU does not fulfill California emissions rules and has remained a 49-state vehicle in the United States.

The air-cooled engine has a gear-driven counterbalancer and a custom cylinder wall plating comparable to Nikasil coating. Suzuki Composite Electro-chemical Material, or SCEM, is a nickel-phosphorus-silicon-carbide coating that reduces weight (by removing a steel liner) and improves heat transmission, allowing for tighter and more efficient piston-to-cylinder clearance. Clearance adjustments of the’screw and locknut’ kind are used on valves. The engine has an oil sump sight glass for visual oil inspections and runs on 87 octane fuel.

A five-speed transmission with a cable-actuated clutch, electric starting (with a kickstarter in Japan), clutch and side stand interlocks (cut-outs), electronic ignition system, maintenance free battery, tubular steel frame with load bearing (stressed member) engine, rear drum brake and front 275mm dual-piston caliper disk brake by Tokico, chrome-plated locking gas cap, passenger pillion separate from the driver’s seat, plastic front and rear fenders Cheng Shin tube-type tires are standard, measuring 90/90-18 in the front and 110/90-18 in the back. The drive is provided by a 108-link DID520V chain.

An analog speedometer with trip odometer, indicator lights for turn signal, high beam, and fuel injection status, as well as a low fuel alert and neutral light, are included in the instrumentation.

The bike has a wet curb weight of 148 kg (328 lb), a rake of 25°55′, a trail of 3.62″, and an unladen weight distribution of 47.4 percent front, 52.6 percent rear.

Reception

When the bike was first introduced in the United States in 2009, Scott Rousseau of Motorcycle Consumer News characterized it as having “1960s-era British styling” as well as a “rev-happy thumper engine, light handling, and surprisingly adequate suspension.”

In 2013, Canadian Moto Guide wrote, “The only ongoing niggle with the TU was the rear suspension, which is just not that compliant when it comes to dealing with road irregularities.”

In late 2014, the TU250X finished fifth in a five-bike comparison by Motorcycle.com, behind the Yamaha SR400 (made in Japan), Suzuki GW250 (manufactured in China), Royal Enfield Continental GT (produced in India), and Honda CB300F. (Thailand-built). The TU’s engine produced 14.8 horsepower at 7300rpm and 11.5 lb-ft of torque while producing 67mpg, according to the reviewer. According to the reviewer “The attractively fashioned vintage bike excels in a variety of areas. “Four of the five testers gave it positive feedback,” and it “does what it’s supposed to do – turn, brake, accelerate – with undeniable skill.” The TU is simply the greatest bike for a rookie, especially one of little stature, to learn how to ride a motorbike on.”

In his review of the TU250x, Motorbike.com contributor Pete Brissette stated that Suzuki had “returned to the uncomplicated formula of the UJM, and with it brought back the delights of riding a pleasant, plain motorcycle.”

Suzuki GSX-R 750

The Suzuki GSX-R750 is a family of 750cc sporting bikes from Suzuki‘s GSX-R series. It resembles a Suzuki Endurance racer and is the first inexpensive, contemporary racer-replica appropriate for road use. It debuted at October 1984 at the Cologne Motorcycle Show.

GSX-R750 (T) 1996

The 1996 GSX-R debuted a new twin-spar frame based on Suzuki’s RGV 500 GP racer. To help reduce weight, a new small and lightweight engine had magnesium coverings for the cylinder head, starting motor, and clutch cover. These modifications resulted in a weight reduction of 20 kg to 179 kg, but power climbed to 128 hp (95 kW). The weight issues that plagued the GSX-R during the first half of the 1990s were finally solved in this year’s model.

Other features were an electronically controlled “main jet block off under decel” system (for emissions considerations), 39 millimeter Mikuni carburetors, and fully adjustable 43 mm inverted forks. In addition, a 17-inch rear rim with a 190/50-17 tire was standard on all versions from 1996 to 1999.

GSX-R750 (V) 1997

Minor internal changes on the 1996 model resulted in increased aerodynamics.

Suzuki GSX1400

Suzuki produced the GSX1400 muscle bike between 2001 and 2008. The GSX1400 was designed to be a quicker and more torque-laden version of Suzuki’s comparable Bandit 1200, with more modern technologies, but it was nevertheless referred to be a “disco-era” motorcycle.

Initially, the bike was solely built for Japan and Europe, until being introduced to the Australian market in 2001; nevertheless, there was a campaign to make the GSX1400 available in the United States and Canada.

The GSX1400 has a redline of 9,000 rpm, but there’s little use in pushing it over that because the bike has excellent low and mid-range performance. The fuel injection throttle bodies are likewise rather tiny bore, which limits the engine’s breathing (and hence power) at high rpm; nevertheless, this improves low-end torque and responsiveness. To overcome these breathing restrictions and give large gains in power and torque, conversions like as turbocharging and supercharging can be done.

Later models included a wheel color change from white to black, a switch from a 4 into 2 exhaust system to a 4 into 1 system, and Yoshimura branded exhaust silencers – but this was only available as a dealer install option.

The penultimate model, which was nearly identical but for color schemes, was sold in 2008.

Suzuki GSF1250

Suzuki Bandit is a line of ordinary bikes manufactured by Suzuki since 1989. The following models are part of the Bandit series:

  • GSX150, 147 cc liquid-cooled (2018–present)
  • GSF250, 248 cc liquid-cooled (1989–2000)
  • GSF400, 398 cc liquid-cooled (1989–1997)
  • GSF600, 599 cc SACS (1995–2004)
  • GSF650, 656 cc SACS (2005–2006), 656 cc liquid-cooled (2007–2016)
  • GSF750, 748 cc SACS (1996–1999)
  • GSF1200, 1,157 cc SACS (1996–2007)
  • GSF1250, 1,255 cc liquid-cooled (2007–2016)

Except for the GSX150, which has a DOHC single cylinder engine, all Bandit models have DOHC inline-four engines with four valves per cylinder. The GSF600 engine is based on the GSX600F engine, however it has been retuned for more mid-range torque. The GSF1200 engine is a bored-out version of the GSX-R1100 engine that has also been retuned for increased mid-range torque. The GSF650 and GSF1250 versions use liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engines, with the GSF1250 featuring an extra balancing shaft to decrease vibrations.

‘S’ models have a half-fairing and twin headlamps beginning with model year 2000. The ‘N’ models are naked motorcycles with a single headlight. The ‘S’ and ‘N’ variants’ availability varies by country and model year.

The Bandit series was known as “hooligan motorcycles.” However, with subsequent changes, the bike has taken on a more sleek and contemporary feel, moving it closer to sports tourer area. The GSF1200 is still popular among stunt riders and is utilized by a wheelie school in the United Kingdom.

GSF1200

2007

  • The GSF1250 Bandit line is now available. It sports a new petrol injection, water-cooled engine that meets Euro 3 emission standards. The new engine produces comparable power and torque to the previous 1,200cc engine, but torque of 108 Nm (80 lbft) is accessible at a lower engine speed of 3,750 RPM. Engine vibrations are reduced by using an additional balancing shaft. The GSF1250 also has a new six-speed constant mesh gearbox with the input shaft placed below the crankshaft to decrease engine length. As a result, the swingarm may be made longer. The ABS version of the GSF1250SA was introduced in Autumn 2007, as was the limited edition Street Fighter, which included a single seat with matching rear cowling, Renthal handlebars, and a Yoshimura silencer.

2008

  • The GSF1250 and GSX1250SA from 2007 remain unmodified. The 1250GT Grand Touring gets a three-box hard luggage system, fairing lowers, and sat-nav.

2009

  • The same engines are used in 2009 models. The cylinders were coated with Suzuki’s “Composite Electrochemical Material” once more before being transferred across the secondary balancer shaft. It was announced in May 2009 that a limited edition Bandit 1250SA ‘Z’ will be available. It’s painted pearl mirage white, with new artwork and metallic silver wheels. Only 100 examples were shipped to the United Kingdom.

2010

  • For 2010, the standard 1250A and 1250SA models will have a black engine.

2015

  • Suzuki resurrected the GSF1250SA Bandit with a redesigned half-fairing that wraps around the radiator shrouds, as well as a front vent behind the headlamp to smooth the airflow behind the fairing.

GSX1250F

Suzuki has eliminated the ‘Bandit’ designation for the GSX1250 models in various territories, including the United Kingdom and the United States. It is essentially a completely faired version of the Bandit 1250 with top and side casings, windscreen, and other extras. It has been produced since 2010 and was last seen as a 2012 model. It received CARB certification, along with its partly faired brother, and is expected to return to the US market as a 2016 model.

GSF1200

2006

Models from 2006 (K6 and SK6) were updated with a redesigned tank form, side panels, a height adjustable seat, and a longer hexagonal-section swinging arm. The faired “S” variants include a new form fairing and mirrors, as well as a completely reworked headlamp system with over and under beams instead of the original side by side arrangement. ABS brakes were available as an option on these new models. ABS brakes were standard on the SA model in the United Kingdom. Height-adjustable handlebars were also introduced in several areas. Minor changes were also made to the transmission internal ratios. The 2006 Bandit 1200s were not available in the United States, although they were sold elsewhere in the globe.

The SK6 model belongs to the Bandit 1200S line’s generation 3 and is thus the only generation 3 model of the 1200 Bandit. This was the final of the SACS-engined Bandits, using a motor design and technology that initially appeared in the GSX-R750 in 1985.

GSF650

2007

Unlike previous generations, which used reworked engines from other models, Suzuki created a new, water-cooled engine particularly for the 2007 Bandit 650. However, the majority of the chassis and bodywork remained identical from the 2005 model.

  • Euro3 emission criteria are met.
  • Engine has a displacement of 656 cc and a liquid-cooled inline four made of all-aluminum.
  • Electronic fuel injection with a dual throttle valve system (similar to the GSX-R and V-Strom from Suzuki)
  • 10% stronger frame and a longer swingarm
  • The rear shock is stiffer, but the front fork is softer.
  • 85 horsepower (63 kW) claimed @ 10,500 rpm (up 7 hp)
  • Redline of 12,500 rpm
  • The gasoline tank is the same 20 litres (4.4 imp gal; 5.3 US gal) as on the previous model, although the fuel pump requires around 1 L Hydraulic clutch is 14 kg heavier

The 2007 Bandit 650 was described by Bike magazine as “de-criminalized” in comparison to its forefathers, yet an excellent bike for novices.

The product is no longer available in the United States.

2008

In Canada, it is no longer accessible. In North America, it was replaced with a new Bandit-derived completely faired GSX650F.

2009

GSX650F

The GSX650F, which was introduced in 2008, is essentially a Bandit 650 variant with similar specifications and components. Despite being based on a Bandit chassis, the added lower fairing gives it a sportier appearance akin to the GSX-R series. The engine has also had remapping to boost rpm, and the suspension has been modified. It also boasts a unique one-piece seat.
