Hyosung GV650 Aquila
The Hyosung GV650 Aquila is a liquid-cooled, V-twin cruiser motorcycle introduced in January 2006 and produced in carbureted form through 2009 before fuel injection became standard.
This manual covers all technical systems specific to the carbureted GV650 Aquila including engine teardown, fuel system service, chassis and electrical diagnostics.
Engine and Fuel System
- Engine type: 647 cc liquid-cooled four-stroke 90° V-twin, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder.
- Induction: Twin 38–39 mm carburetors (two carburetors, one per cylinder).
- Ignition: Digital CDI.
- Compression ratio: ~11.4:1 – 11.5:1 (varies slightly by model year).
- Power output: ~72 hp @ 9,000 rpm (crank).
- Torque: ~61 Nm @ 7,500 rpm.
- Starting: Electric start only.
The carbureted version uses twin downdraft carburetors tuned for cruiser torque and smooth throttle response. Jetting specifications, mixture screw settings, and idle adjustments are included in this manual.
Transmission and Final Drive
- Transmission: 5-speed constant mesh manual gearbox.
- Clutch: Wet, multi-plate, cable-operated.
- Final drive: Belt drive (quiet, low maintenance).
The belt drive system requires periodic tension and wear checks. Manual includes belt replacement procedures and torque specs for all related fasteners.
Chassis, Suspension, and Brakes
- Frame: Double-pipe steel frame.
- Front suspension: 41 mm inverted telescopic forks.

- No factory tachometer despite rev limiter set at ~10,500 rpm.

- Reserve capacity: ~5 L reserve.
