Suzuki GSX-R1000 Service Manual (2007)

Suzuki substantially revised the GSX-R1000 for 2007, increasing engine performance while adding more rider-adjustable electronics. Suzuki's official GSX-R1000 digital archive identifies the 2007 model as a new generation with a higher-revving 999 cm³ engine, Suzuki Drive Mode Selector and a newly designed cast-aluminum frame. The redesign kept the GSX-R1000 in Suzuki's liter-class supersport line while expanding both performance and rider control.

The GSX-R1000 uses a 999 cm³ liquid-cooled DOHC inline-four with a 73.4 × 59.0 mm bore and stroke and a 12.5:1 compression ratio. The factory service specification lists electronic fuel injection, a wet multi-plate clutch and six-speed constant-mesh transmission, with chain final drive using a 43/17 reduction ratio. Suzuki's official archive notes twin multi-hole injectors, iridium spark plugs, enlarged intake and exhaust ports and revised crankcase ventilation as part of the 2007 engine development.

The K7 chassis uses a 1,415 mm wheelbase, 810 mm seat height and factory-listed dry mass of 172 kg for most markets, or 173 kg for California. Fully adjustable inverted front suspension and link-type rear suspension are combined with twin front discs and a single rear disc. The newly designed frame uses cast components welded into a rigid assembly, while three-way adjustable footpegs allow the riding position to be tailored. These features define the K7 as a 999cc fuel-injected superbike focused on high-rpm performance, chassis precision and rider adjustability.

A major electronic addition for 2007 was Suzuki Drive Mode Selector, allowing the rider to select different engine-response characteristics. The factory service publication also covers secondary-throttle control, ECM self-diagnosis, exhaust control, charging and starting systems, steering-damper electronics and market-specific wiring diagrams. Suzuki's archive places this generation between the highly successful 2005 model and the shorter-stroke K9 redesign introduced for 2009.
